Army National Guard Sgt. Maj. Angela E. Cannon has graduated from the U.S. Army Sergeants Major Academy Nonresident Course (NRC) at Fort Bliss, El Paso, Texas.
Students must successfully complete the course to be promoted to the ranks of sergeant major and command sergeant major.
The two-year program parallels the academy's resident course and is the primary method for reserve component noncommissioned officers to complete the sergeants major course via the NRC website on the internet, or through correspondence.
Students who satisfactorily complete correspondence requirements are eligible to attend the 17-day resident course at the academy to complete further training to be official graduates of the sergeants majors course.
Cannon is a personnel management superintendent assigned to the Delaware National Guard Station, Wilmington.
She is the daughter of Betty J. Cannon of Daniel St., Laurel, Del., and Jay T. Cannon of Henry Drive, Seaford, Del.
She graduated in 1980 from Laurel Senior High School, and received her bachelor's degree in 2003 from Wilmington College, New Castle, Del.
