Seaford dentist Edith P. Villasenor, DMD, a 28-year employee of Delaware's Division of Public Health (DPH), was recognized Wednesday, March 3, 2004, at the 10th Annual Women's Day Awards at the Baycenter in Dewey Beach.
The award, presented by Delaware Technical and Community College's Owens Campus Alumni Association, honored Dr. Villasenor for her professional and volunteer contributions to the community.
Dr. Villasenor was recognized for delivering dental care to disadvantaged Sussex County children while raising a family and volunteering in her community.
Dr. Villasenor cares for nearly 1,000 patients a year at the Shipley State Service Center, ranging in age from 2 to 20 years old.
Dr. Villasenor is president of the Seaford District Library Board of Commissioners, where she is involved in a building project.
She is a member and past president of the Soroptimist International of Seaford, a volunteer service organization for women in business, management and the professions.
Dr. Villasenor is also a board member of the Girl Scouts of the Chesapeake Bay Council, who nominated her for the Women's Day award.
