Smyrna 48, Laurel 35
The Bulldogs dropped the Henlopen Conference Southern Division contest on Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2004.
Laurel led the game 11-8 after the first quarter but lost control of the game as it was outscored by Smyrna, 32-15, over the second and third periods.
Ashley Bennett led the way for Laurel with 12 points.
Laurel 43, Woodbridge 38
The Bulldogs captured third place in their own Bulldog Invitational with the nonconference win on Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2003.
Laurel overcame an 8-point deficit against Woodbridge on the strength of a 19-13 advantage in the fourth quarter to even its record at 3-3 overall.
Ashley Bennett and Cierra Boulden sparked the comeback with 12 and 11 points, respectively.
St. Thomas More 35, Laurel 34
The Bulldogs suffered a heart-breaking loss in the opener of their Bulldog Invitational on Monday, Dec. 29, 2003.
Laurel grabbed a 10-4 lead after the first quarter but saw St. Thomas More cut the lead to one point by halftime. The teams stayed close in the second half as the game was tied 24-24 entering the fourth period.
Ashley Bennett led the Bulldogs with 11 points. Laurel fell to 2-3 overall with the loss.
Laurel 41, Milford 32
The Bulldogs handed Milford its first loss of the season with a Henlopen Conference Southern Division victory on Friday, Dec. 13, 2003.
Laurel jumped out to a 10-5 lead after the first period and after Milford battled back in the second period, outscored the Bucs 13-7 in the third quarter to take control.
Cierra Bolden scored 12 points to spark the win, while Ashley Bennett added 10. The Bulldogs are now 2-2 overall.
Laurel Woodbridge 59, Laurel 50
The Bulldogs fell apart in the fourth quarter to suffer their second straight loss on Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2003.
Laurel led Woodbridge 42-33 entering the final period but was outscored 26-8 to drop to 1-2 overall.
Kirsten Johnson paced the Bulldogs with 22 points. Cierra Bolden and Ashley Bennett contributed 13 and 12 points, respectively.
Indian River 42, Laurel 25
The Bulldogs suffered their first loss of the season with a nonconference defeat on Thursday, Dec. 12, 2003.
Laurel fell behind 20-4 after one period and never challenged Indian River after that.
Ashley Bennett paced the Bulldogs with 11 points.
Laurel 45, Arcadia (Va.) 35
The Bulldogs got their season off to a good start with the nonconference victory on Friday, Dec. 5, 2003.
Cierra Bolden led the way for Laurel with 15 points, while Kirsten Johnson added 13.
The Bulldogs went on a 14-8 run in the fourth period to break open a close game.
