2003-2004 Sussex Central Boys' Basketball Schedule

Caesar Rodney 69, Sussex Central 42

The Golden Knights hung around in the first half but were routed in the second half of the Henlopen Conference Northern Division loss on Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2004.

Central trailed 30-24 at halftime but was outscored by 21 points in the second half.

Kyle White and Jarvis Turnage led the Knights with 11 and 10 points, respectively. Central is 4-4 overall.

Sussex Central 65, Wicomico (Md.) 60

The Golden Knights won their second consecutive game in the Salisbury (Md.) Lions Club Tournament on Monday, Dec. 29, 2003.

The Knights, now 4-3 overall, trailed by 10 points late in the third quarter before Larry Bailey scored on a four-point play due to a foul and technical against Wi-Hi to cut the gap to 42-36.

A three-pointer by guard Kyle White and a three-pointer by Bailey tied the score 48-48, while a basket by Frank Harris put Central in front early in the fourth quarter.

Bailey finished with a game-high 23 points and Harris with 18. White collected 9 points and 7 assists.

Sussex Central 40, Crisfield (Md.) 37

The Golden Knights snapped a two-game losing streak with the win in the Salisbury (Md.) Lions Club Tournament on Saturday, Dec. 27, 2003.

In rising to 3-3 overall, the Knights took advantage of poor free throw shooting by Crisfield, which missed 12 of its 15 foul shots including three free throws when the Knights fouled on a three-point attempt with 17 seconds left in the game.

Larry Bailey led Central with 14 points and 4 assists. No other Knight scored in double figures, but guard Kyle White contributed 6 points, 11 rebounds and 9 assists and Tramar Bailey chipped in with 6 points and 7 rebounds.

Salesianum 59, Sussex Central 45

The Golden Knights fell below .500 with the nonconference loss to the upstate power on Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2003.

The Knights fell behind 16-9 after the first quarter and couldn't catch up as they dropped to 2-3 overall with their second straight defeat.

Guard Kyle White and forward Frank Harris paced the Knights with 12 and 11 points, respectively. Jarvis Turnage added 10 more points.

Seaford 57, Sussex Central 54

The Golden Knights overcame a disastrous first quarter to nearly pull out the Henlopen Conference Northern Division game on Thursday, Dec. 18. 2003.

Central was outscored by Seaford 13-4 in the first period but manage to pull within 39-36 by the end of the third quarter thanks to 9 of Frank Harris' 17 points in the third period.

Kyle White and Larry Bailey added 16 and 13 points, respectively. Central is now 1-3 in the conference and overall.

Sussex Central 66, Polytech 61

The Golden Knights jumped out to a big first quarter lead and held on from there for a Henlopen Conference Northern Division victory and the first victory for new coach James Wilhemi on Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2003.

The Knights led 18-8 after the first quarter but saw their lead cut to 31-30 by halftime. Guard Kyle White staked Central to the lead by scoring 14 of his 20 points in the first half.

Larry Bailey took over in the second half, as he notched 18 of his 20 points to help the Knights keep Polytech at bay. Bailey nailed 3 three-pointers in the second half.

Also in double figures for Central were Nate Kellam and Frank Harris with 12 and 10 points, respectively. Harris and White also drained three-pointers.

Cape Henlopen 57, Sussex Central 51 (OT)

The Golden Knights couldn't make a big early lead hold up as they fell to their second consecutive loss to start the season on Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2003.

Central jumped out to a 12-0 lead over Cape Henlopen just three minutes into the game, but Cape battled back to tie the score 26-26 at halftime, 36-36 after three quarters and 46-46 at the end of regulation.

Central guard Kyle White sent the game into overtime when he sank a pair of free throws with just 4.2 seconds left in the fourth quarter.

White finished with 16 points including 4 in the overtime. He also had 5 rebounds. Tremar Bailey totalled 17 points, 5 rebounds and 3 steals for the Knights.

Central dropped to 0-2 in the Henlopen Conference Northern Division and overall with the loss.

Sussex Tech 65, Sussex Central 40

The Golden Knights were never in their season-opening Henlopen Conference Northern Division loss against their cross-town rivals on Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2003.

Central trailed Sussex Tech 14-5 in the first quarter and 22-11 by period's end in the debut of new coach James Wilhelmi and never recovered. The Knights, the defending conference champions, trailied 35-18 at halftime and 55-28 after three quarters.

Frank Harris paced the Knights with 10 points, while Larry Bailey and Tramar Bailey added 9 points apiece. Bailey and Harris hit three-pointers for the Knights.
