2003 Boys' Soccer Schedule

Milford 10, Sussex Tech 1

The Ravens were blind-sided in a Henlopen Conference loss on Tuesday, Oct. 21.

Trailing Milford 6-0 at halftime, Tech never recovered.

The Ravens finally scored on a penalty kick by Pat Hughes, but by then they were behind 9-1.

Goalkeeper Ricker Adkins recorded 13 saves for Tech.

Sussex Central 4, Sussex Tech 1

The Ravens suffered a Henlopen Conference loss to their cross-town rivals on Tuesday, Oct. 14.

Tech fell behind Sussex Central 3-0 in the first half and continued to trail by that score until Elliott Fitzgerald scored off a pass from James Davis.

Tech trailed 16-7 in shots. Goalkeeper Ricker Adkins recorded 15 saves.

Sussex Tech 6, Laurel 0

The Ravens righted themselves with a blanking of Laurel on Thursday, Oct. 9.

In stopping their four-game losing streak, the Ravens got two goals apiece from Matt Adams and Jeremy Williams.

Pat Hughes and Morgan Hunt contributed the other goals for Tech, which rose to 5-6 overall.

Goalkeeper Ricker Adkins earned the shutout with 3 saves.

Seaford 2, Sussex Tech 1

The Ravens were unable to stop their losing streak as they fell for the fourth straight time in the Henlopen Conference on Tuesday, Oct. 7.

Tech took a 1-0 halftime lead on a goal by James Davis. Davis was assisted by Brian King on the score.

Seaford, however, took control in the second half with a pair of goals.

Goalkeeper Ricker Adkins had 8 saves for the Ravens, who trailed 15-12 in shots and 3-1 in corner kicks.

Tech slipped to 3-6 in the conference and 3-7 overall.

Caesar Rodney 7, Sussex Tech 0

The Ravens were outshot 33-5 in the Henlopen Conference loss on Thursday, Oct. 2.

Tech goalkeeper Elliott Fitzgerald recorded 18 saves. The Ravens, who went without a corner kick, fell behind 3-0 at halftime.

Tech fell to 3-5 in the conference and 3-6 overall with its third straight loss.

Woodbridge 3, Sussex Tech 2

The Ravens suffered their second consecutive loss when Woodbridge scored on a direct kick with 10 minutes to go.

Tech took a 2-1 lead in the first half on back-to-back goals by Pat Hughes.

Woodbridge, however, tied the score by halftime and won the Henlopen Conference match late in the second half.

Goalkeeper Elliott Fitzgerald posted 14 saves for Tech.

The two teams tied 21-21 in shots. Tech trailed 5-3 in corner kicks. Tech is now 3-4 in the conference and 3-5 overall.

Indian River 3, Sussex Tech 0

The Ravens had their three-match win streak snapped in the Henlopen Conference loss to Indian River.

Tech was outshot 44-4 and trailed 11-0 in corner kicks, but battled to a 0-0 tie at halftime before the Indians broke loose in the second half.

Goalkeeper Ricker Adkins posted 18 saves for Tech, which fell to 3-3 in the conference and 3-4 overall.

Sussex Tech 3, Smyrna 0

The Ravens recorded their third straight victory to rise to 4-2 overall.

Tech used two goals and an assist from Pat Hughes and the shutout goalkeeping of Ricker Adkins to rise to 3-2 in the Henlopen Conference.

Adkins stopped 7 shots for the shutout. Joe Garner scored the Ravens' other goal, while Tom Ford contributed an assist.

Tech outshot Smyrna 22-11 and led 6-4 in corner kicks.

Sussex Tech 6, Polytech 1

The Ravens put together back-to-back wins for the first time this season to rise to 2-2 in the conference and 3-2 overall.

Tech outshot the Panthers 28-15 and jumped out to a 4-0 lead before Polytech got on the board.

Pat Hughes scored the Ravens' first and last goals. Elliott Fitzgerald, Jeremy Williams, Phillip Wilson and James Davis scored Tech's other goals.

Tom Ford registered two assists and Morgan Hunt assisted on another goal.

Tech goalkeeper Ricker Adkins recorded 14 saves.

"We're getting there," said Tech head coach Carlos Villa.

Sussex Tech 5, Lake Forest 0

The Ravens snapped a two-match losing streak with the Henlopen Conference shutout on Tuesday, Sept. 16.

Tech, now 1-2 in the conference and 2-2 overall, jumped out to a 4-0 halftime lead and never looked back.

Pat Hughes and Morgan Hunt scored two goals apiece for the Ravens, while Tom Foard added the other.

Ricker Adkins posted 12 saves for the shutout for Tech, which outshot Lake 34-14.

Dover 2, Sussex Tech 1

The Ravens lost for the second straight time in the Henlopen Conference to fall to 1-1 in the conference and 1-2 overall on Thursday, Sept. 11.

Tech held advantages of 16-15 in shots and 6-2 in corner kicks but could only manage a first half goal by Morgan Hunt on an assist from James Davis.

Tech goalkeeper Ricker Adkins posted 11 saves.

Cape Henlopen 6, Sussex Tech 1

The Ravens ran into a buzzsaw as they suffered their first loss of the season on Tuesday, Sept. 9.

Brian King scored the only goal for Tech in the Henlopen Conference defeat.

Goalkeeper Ricker Adkins made 12 saves for the Ravens, who dropped to 1-1 overall after being outshot 25-7 by Cape Henlopen.

Tech fell behind 4-0 in the first half and 5-0 in the second half before King notched his goal.

Sussex Tech 4, Hodgson 2

The Ravens started their season with a nonconference win behind a balanced offensive attack on Friday, Sept. 5, 2003.

James Davis, Tom Ford, Pat Hughes and Josh King scored a goal apiece for Tech, which jumped out to a 3-1 halftime lead.

Hodgson pulled within 3-2 midway through the second half but couldn't get the tying goal against Tech goalkeeper Ricker Adkins, who finished with 9 saves.

The Ravens led 23-12 in shots while trailing 7-4 in corner kicks.
