I was told that Sussex County Council now is going to pay $20,000 to all local Police Department in the county for assisting the state police on calls. Wow instead of getting a county police department started, they would instead pay approx. 16 Police departments $20,000 each. Hmm the total cost would be $320,000. Of course the Sussex county council as put guide lines of the spending of the money. You can not add it to the officer's salaries only for equipment use. That is simply amazing, when a new trooper on the road is making approx. $43,000 a year and local police officer is making approx. $27,000 a year. Yet, the local officers are assisting the DSP on call when they are short handed. Wake up Sussex county council.. we need a County Police Department.. to protect the people...Its time for a change.
