Selbyville native John E. James has authored a new book, "Privileged Communications and the Delaware Corporation". Now a partner in the Wilmington law firm Potter, Anderson and Corroon LLP, James practices in the area of civil litigation. The book, published by CCH Inc. in Chicago, analyzes privileged communications issues as they have been addressed by the Delaware state and federal courts over the last several decades with respect to commercial and corporate litigation. These subjects have nationwide importance because of Delaware's status as the state of incorporation for a majority of the country's largest corporations. James' recent cases include representing Fortune 500 companies such as Hercules and Philips Electronics in insurance coverage litigation against their insurers for coverage regarding their environmental liabilities. During his 20-year career, he has represented corporations, businesses, officers, directors and shareholders in matters involving Delaware corporatel law. He has also been involved in commercial litigation including insurance coverage actions, contract disputes, bankruptcy auctions, employment litigation and business tort suits. A member of the Delaware Bar since 1979, James is involved in various Sections and Committees of the American Bar Association. He currently serves as co-chair of the Claims-Made Coverage Sub-Committee of the Insurance Coverage Committee of the ABA Litigation Section.
