Delaware Gov. Thomas R. Carper will kick off his 2000 U.S. Senate bid for long-time incumbent Bill Roth's seat in Lewes at 2:30 p.m., Monday, July 17, 2000.

The stop at Lewes Middle School at 820 Savannah Rd. will be the last of three state-wide campaign kickoffs for the two-term Delaware governor today.

Carper said he waited until the end of the recently completed General Assembly session to begin his campaign.

Roth has served as a U.S. Senator for Delaware for five consecutive terms beginning in 1970. More on Roth is available on his home page.
