Leaving F.I. Force |
Only 8 Months in F.I. SC Online Content Editor The Town of Fenwick Island lost another police officer when officer Robert W. Smull presented his resignation to council members on Friday, Feb. 14, 2003. The resignation of Smull, with the department for only eight months, is the fourth resignation from the six-person force in the past month. The town recently hired two officers as it attempts to bring the department back up to its full contingent of five officers and a chief. The department continues to be run by Glenn Hudson, who was named officer in charge in November 2002. Council has been ordered by the Attorney General's office, however, to hold a special meeting to allow public comment on Hudson's hiring and then re-vote on Hudson's hiring. TheAG's office gave council 30 days from the time of its order on Jan. 21, 2003, but as of that deadline on Feb. 20, no such meeting had been publicly announced. The order was made in the attorney general's response to a FOIA complaint from Maj. William Manning. |
