Dear Editor, I wanted to take this opportunity to bring your readers up-to-date with efforts to expand the Ocean View Post Office. It's no secret that Sussex County has grown dramatically. Our population has increased by more than 38% in the last ten years. Not surprisingly, some of our infrastructure and services require improvement to keep pace with this rapid pace of growth. The Ocean View Post Office is one such example. In response to my inquiries about expanding the facility, I've learned that replacing the Ocean View Post Office is already a high-priority with the U.S. Postal Service. In fact, building a new post office to serve Ocean View area residents is on the postal service's Top Ten List of projects they'll be addressing in this region as soon as federal funding becomes available. In the meantime, District Manager Mike Brose has informed me they'll be adding eight to ten new parking spaces at the post office this spring. The spaces will be for employee parking, freeing existing spaces for customer use. I also plan to meet with DelDOT officials to discuss installing a turning lane at the post office to make it safer and easier to enter and exit the location. Sincerely, |
