Running for Congress |
for Another Shot at Castle Lewes Democrat Micheal C. Miller will again vie for the U.S. Congressional seat held by incumbent Michael N. Castle.
Miller must face Brandywine Hundred lawyer Steven L. Beiner in a Democratic primary in September to gain a spot on the November ballot. A landscaper and accountant, the 33-year-old Miller lost to Castle with 30.9 percent of the vote in 2000. It was the first time Miller had run for public office. Miller said at the time that although he knew he didn't have enough money to challenge a popular incumbent like Castle, he hoped his showing would be remembered by voters in 2002. On his three-county tour on Tuesday, Miller called for improved prescription drug coverage for seniors, health insurance for uninsured Americans, and a hike in the federal minimum wage to $8 an hour. Last year, Miller was defeated in the Cape Henlopen School Board election. |
