$100 Scholarships

GEORGETOWN -- Sussex County students are invited to participate in the Sussex County Student Scholarship Online Election Contest with a chance to win a $100 scholarship.

Sussex County Councilman Vance PhillipsStudents in Grades K-12 are eligible to enter the contest sponsored by Sussex County Councilman Vance Phillips by filling out a form with the percentage of the vote each candidate will win in the upcoming elections on Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2000.

The five students who come the closest to the actual percentages on Election Day will receive a $100 scholarship to be placed in escrow until the student needs it for his or her post-secondary education.

The form will be posted online at http://www.sussexcounty.net on Thursday, Nov. 2, and the contest will conclude at the end of business (4:30 p.m.) on Monday, Nov.6.

Entrants are asked to provide the winners and vote percentages in:

  • The U.S. Presidential race
  • The race for Delaware's U.S. Senate seat
  • The race for Delaware's U.S. House of Representatives seat
  • The Delaware Governor's race
  • The Delaware Lieutenant Governor's race
  • The Delaware Insurance Commissioner's race

The contest will be administered by Dennis Norwood, Sussex County Information Systems Supervisor. Funds for the scholarship will come out of Councilman Phillips' discretionary fund.
