Sewer District Growth SC Online Content Editor
GEORGETOWN -- Sussex County Council voted Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2002 to approve expansions of two coastal sewer districts -- one near Ocean View and the other in West Rehoboth. The council first Okd the extension of the South Bethany sewer district to include the Forest Reach residential planned community near Ocean View. Council member George Cole voted with the other council members to approve the extension, but called for more a more "equitable" system of approving sewer projects. He said if developments such as Forest Reach had been included in the Ocean View district instead of the South Bethany district, rates would have been more affordable for lower income residents of the Ocean View area. About 20 acres of the Forest Reach development are already included in the South Bethany district; the expansion adds 5 acres to that. Forest Reach will consist of 58 homes and is located next to the South Coastal Regional Wastewater Treatment Facility. The council also approved the annexation of the 11-acre Estates of Sea Chase development into the West Rehoboth sewer district. The development will consist of 45 homes. |
