Rehoboth Beach
Jazz Festival

REHOBOTH BEACH -- The Rehoboth Beach Jazz Festival drew thousands of jazz lovers to the Sussex County resort town on Saturday, Oct. 16, 1999.
The annual two-day event features jazz musicians and bands in venues all over Rehoboth and Dewey Beach, including clubs, restaurants, the Rehoboth Beach Convention Center and the Rehoboth Beach Bandstand.
The Cape Henlopen High School Jazz Band (pictured above) took center stage at the bandstand on Saturday afternoon under beautiful skies and mild temperatures. The band thrilled the big crowd with jazz and pop favorites including renditions of Santana and Blood, Sweat & Tears tunes.
Among the band's soloists was Josh Fruchtman (left) and Burt Miller (below), both saxophonists. More information is available on the Cape Henlopen High School band at this link.
The Saturday lineup included performances by Libby York, a former owner of the Back Porch Cafe who returned to town on the heels of her debut CD, "Blue Gardenia", and Keb' Mo', the 1999 Grammy winner for Best Contemporary Blues Album.
