The biggest snowstorm to hit Sussex County in four years hammered the coast with high tides, winds and waves on Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2000.
Forecasters expected the storm to leave anywhere from 3 to 6 inches of snow on the ground by the time it left the coast Tuesday evening. Storm surges were another concern with wave heights of 18 feet predicted.
