The Wildcats had little trouble with their traditional rivals to set up a showdown with Woodbridge for the Henlopen Conference Southern Division title and automatic Division II state tournament berth. That game will be played Friday, Nov. 17, at Woodbridge at 7:30 p.m.
Now 8-1 overall and 5-0 in the division, Delmar took a 20-0 lead on a 34-yard touchdown run by Ian Hudson, a 51-yard screen pass for a score from quarterback Dustin Johnson to Hudson, and a 32-yard run by Hudson. Hudson had 139 yards rushing by halftime. He has scored 7 touchdowns in the last two games.
Delmar also scored on a 51-yard screen pass from Johnson to Raymond Hammond, a 10-yard run by Hammond, and a 51-yard run by Vincent Stewart. Since scoring only 6 points in a season-opening loss to Sussex Central, the Wildcats have averaged 40.1 points a game.
Delmar 41, Smyrna 12
Ian Hudson's four touchdowns helped Delmar move into a tie atop the Henlopen Conference Southern Division standings and pushed a showdown with Woodbridge for the division title on Nov. 17 one step closer to reality. The Wildcats are 4-0 in the South along with Woodbridge, the defending South champion. Both teams are also 7-1 overall. Delmar must beat Laurel on Nov. 10 and Woodbridge must defeat Indian River that night to set up the Nov. 17 showdown. Hudson scored on runs of 20, 47 and 22 yards and returned a punt 50 yards for another TD on the way to 164 yards rushing in outshining heralded Smyrna running back Mike Pennewell. Pennewell finished with 91 yards on 24 carries after entering the game with more than 1,500 yards this season. Raymond Hammond bulled in from 2 yards out and quarterback Dustin Johnson ran in from 16 yards for the Wildcats' other two touchdowns.
Delmar 29, Lake Forest 6
The Wildcats returned from an open date to rout Lake Forest for their sixth consecutive victory.
Running back Ian Hudson led the way with three touchdowns while Dustin Johnson returned a punt 97 yards for a touchdown as Delmar rose to 3-0 in the South and 6-1 overall.

Delmar 53, Seaford 3
The Wildcats cruised in their Henlopen South opener behind the Hudson Brothers.
Delmar used four touchdowns by running back Ian Hudson and two more by Sean Hudson to rise to 4-1 overall. The Wildcats host Indian River on Saturday, Oct. 14, at 1:30 p.m. in an early-season South showdown.
Ian Hudson rushed for more than 100 yards and scored on runs of 31 and 53 yards, on a 48-yard punt return, and on a 40-yard return of a lateral following an interception by Dustin Johnson as Delmar scored 53 unanswered points after Seaford got on the board first with a field goal.
Sean Hudson, meanwhile, scored from 38 and 51 yards. Quarterback Dustin Johnson also scored two touchdowns, the first on a 41-yard run and the second on a 1-yard plunge.
Delmar has scored 176 points in its last four games after scoring only 6 in its season-opening loss to Sussex Central.

The Wildcats rolled to their third straight victory and their second straight over a Bayside Conference foe.
Ian Hudson scored two touchdowns for Delmar, now 3-1 overall.
Quarterback Dustin Johnson hit Hudson with a 31-yard touchdown toss and threw a 26-yard scoring strike to Michael Hunt.
Raymond Hammond scored on a 56-yard run and fullback Scott Price scored on a 27-yarder.
Delmar's defense allowed the Clippers into Wildcat territory only once in the game.

The Wildcats roared to 28 points in the second half and their second straight victory. Dustin Johnson ran 6 times for 86 yards for Delmar and scored on a 30-yard run and a punt return of 86 yards to lead the nonconference win over the Bayside Conference power. He also threw a 19-yard scoring pass to running back Ian Hudson.
Delmar's other scores came on a 37-yard run by Mark Johnson, a 5-yard run by Raymond Hammond, and a 2-yard run by Scott Price. Delmar is now 2-1 overall.

The Wildcats completely dominated the correctional school from Maryland with a punishing ground game that totalled 297 yards.
Running back Ian Hudson rebounded from a tough game in a loss at Sussex Central in the season-opener with 142 yards and three touchdowns. Hudson scored on runs of 3, 33 and 71 yards.
Quarterback Dustin Johnson scored on an 18-yard run and threw a 34-yard touchdown pass to Michael Hunt. Delmar's other scores came on a 26-yard run by Shawn Hudson and a 28-yard run by Jeff Wright. The Wildcats are 1-1 overall.
