Indian River 3, Laurel 0 The Bulldogs were shut out by the Indians in a Henlopen Conference Southern Division game. Milford 2, Laurel 1 The Bulldogs took a 1-0 lead on a goal by Lenona Stancell but couldn't hold on. Laurel was outshot 13-7. Goalie Ashley Evans posted 11 saves. Laurel 1, Milford 1 The Bulldogs were outshot 23-3 but made one of those three shots count for the tie. Mia Whitney scored the goal for Laurel. Laurel 2, Dover 2 The Bulldogs took a 2-1 lead in overtime but couldn't hold Dover off in the extra period. Courtney Hughes scored Laurel's goal in overtime after Lenona Stancell had tied the score for the Bulldogs in regulation. Ashley Evans recorded six saves in goal for the Bulldogs. Cape Henlopen 3, Laurel 0 The Bulldogs were outshot 25-5 by the state's 7th-ranked team. Goalie Ashley Evans had 13 saves for Laurel. Delmar 3, Laurel 2 The Bulldogs slipped to 2-1 overall and 1-1 in the Henlopen South with the loss to the state's sixth-ranked team. Both Laurel goals were scored by Mia Whitney. Whitney's second goal pulled the Bulldogs within 3-2 with 13:46 left in the game but they were unable to punch in the tying goal. Lenona Stancell had an assist while Laurel goalie Ashley Evans faced 25 Delmar shots and saved 16 of them. Laurel 4, Woodbridge 1 The Bulldogs rose to 2-0 overall and 1-0 in the Henlopen South behind a pair of goals by Courtney Hughes. Mia Whitney also scored for Laurel, which broke open a 1-1 game at halftime with three second-half goals. Laurel held a slim edge in shots at 25-21, but goalie Ashley Evans stopped all but one of Woodbridge's shots. Laurel 3, Sts. Peter & Paul 0 The Bulldogs started their season with a nonconference shutout over their opponents from Maryland. Mia Whitney scored two goals, Courtney Hughes posted two assists, and Lenona Stancell added a goal and assist. |
