Gilmar Perez scored the Knights' goal on an assist from Evlalio Perez, his brother. Mike Dondarski recorded 8 saves for the shutout for Sussex Central, which held a 22-13 advantage in shots. SC beat Indian River 2-1 earlier in the season. Newark 3, Sussex Central 1 The Golden Knights held their own against the state's third-ranked team and actually outshot the Yellow Jackets, 13-11. Newark led the nonconference game 2-0 at halftime before Eulalio Perez pulled the Knights to within 2-1 with a goal at 13:14 of the second half. Sussex Central goalkeeper Chris McCoy registered 9 saves. Dover 4, Sussex Central 0 The Golden Knights were blanked by one of the state's Top 10 teams in suffering their first loss of the season. The Knights were outshot 21-14 in falling to 2-1 in the Henlopen North and overall. Sussex Central 4, Cape Henlopen 1 Eulalio Perez' two goals and two assists sparked the Golden Knights in the Henlopen North triumph. The Knights outshot Cape 24-8 in rising to 2-0. Trey Bell and Orion Cameron scored Sussex Central's other goals and Justin Battaglino added an assist. Goalkeeper Mike Dundarski stopped 5 shots for the Knights. Sussex Central 2, Indian River 1 The Golden Knights outlasted their district rivals in their season-opener. Orion Cameron and Matt Wilson scored a goal apiece for the Knights.
