Now 6-0 overall and 2-0 in the Henlopen South, the defending Division II state champions have won 17 straight games dating back to last season. Tied 0-0 after the first period, the Wildcats put up 21 points in the second quarter on a 13-yard pass from quarterback John Webster to receiver Demeris Cannon, a 42-yard run by Vince Stewart, and a 58-yard pass from Webster to receiver Michael Hunt. Delmar made it 28-0 in the third period on an 11-yard run by Sean Hudson and after Indian River got its first score, put up two more touchdowns on a 4-yard run by Brandon Hudson and a 1-yard run by Lawrence Sinagra. The Widcats totalled 405 yards of offense including 164 yards rushing by Sean Hudson, who has run for 797 yards with a 12.08 yard average per carry this year. Delmar, as a team, is averaging 8.65 yards per carry for the season.
The Wildcat defense, which has allowed only 19 points all season, got a fumble recovery by middle linebacker Lawrence Sinagra and interceptions by Vince Stewart and Adrian Harris. Delmar has outscored its first six opponents by an average of 41.67 to 3.67 points per game. Delmar will take a week off before hosting Lake Forest in an important Southern Division contest on Friday, Oct. 26, at 7:30 p.m. Lake Forest is 1-1 in the South and 2-3 overall after a 31-21 loss to Seaford on Friday, Oct. 12.
