Indian River came within two minutes of pulling off a nonconference upset of Cape Henlopen.

Down 13-0, the Indians bounced back from a 13-0 first quarter deficit to pull ahead 14-13 in the fourth quarter on a 4-yard run by halfback Billy Hall.

Cape, however, responded with an 80-yard drive capped by a 12-yard run by Thaddeus Shockley for the winning points with two minutes remaining.

The Indians were unable to mount a threat on their final drive as they fell to 0-3 overall.

Johnny Meiklejohn scored the Indians' first touchdown on a 1-yard run in the second period. He finished with 90 yards rushing.
