Lake Forest 2, Indian River 1 The Indians' loss gave Lake Forest its first Henlopen Conference Southern Division crown since 1988 and ended a run of three straight South titles for Delmar. Lake Forest tied Smyrna with an 8-4-1 record but defeated Smyrna during the season to win the title by virtue of the conference's tie-breaker. The Indians fell behind 2-0 before Leighann Ambrose broke through to make it 2-1 with 11:37 left in the game. The Indians were unable to score again, however, and may have lost a chance at a state tournament berth, as well. Indian River 3, Delmar 3 (OT) The Indians saw a two-goal halftime lead slip away in the Henlopen South tie. IR took a 3-1 halftime lead on three goals by Leighann Ambrose on assists from Mandy Richards, Brittany Croll and Dayna Elliott. IR is now 5-4-1 in the conference and 6-6-1 overall. Indian River 2, Laurel 1 The Indians rose to 5-4 in the Henlopen Conference and 6-6 overall with the win. Leslie Morin scored the game-winniner at the 6:17 mark of the second half. Mandy Richards scored the Indians' first goal at 24:08 of the first half. The Indians led 16-10 in shots and 20-6 in penalty corners. Indian River 3, Sussex Tech 0 The Indians snapped a two-game losing streak behind Brittany Croll's two goals. Leighann Ambrose added IR's other goal and contributed an assist. Dayna Elliott and Mandy Richards also registered assists. The Indians outshot Tech 18-3 to improve to 4-4 in the conference and 5-6 overall. Smyrna 3, Indian River 1 The Indians' lone goal was scored by Holly Misken in the Henlopen Conference defeat. Alex Desiderio posted 6 saves in goal. IR was outshot 13-8. Milford 3, Indian River 2 The Indians played the unbeaten Bucs tough but succumbed on the third of Andrea Fleming's three goals with 2:15 remaining in the Henlopen Conference tussle. Brittany Croll tied the game 2-2 for the Indians with a goal at the 2:30 mark. Leanne Ambrose scored Indian River's first goal. Goalie Alley Desiderio made 8 saves for the Indians, who trailed 24-15 in shots. Cape Henlopen 2, Indian River 0 The Indians couldn't find the cage in a key Henlopen Conference game against the unbeaten Vikings. Cape scored both of its goals in the second half. Indian River 11, Woodbridge 0 The Indians exploded behind four goals apiece from Brittany Croll and Leigh Ann Ambrose. Holly Misker, Leslie Morin and Jackie Gray scored a goal apiece for IR, which outshot Woodbridge 26-2. Alley Desiderio and Lisa Morrisey combined for the shutout in goal. Indian River 1, Sussex Central 0 The Indians beat their district rivals on a goal by Brittany Croll in the first half. Croll was assisted by Holly Musken. After that, goalies Lisa Morrisey and Alex Desiderio combined for the shutout, posting 8 saves between them. IR trailed 11-10 in shots and 13-10 in penalty corners. Caesar Rodney 1, Indian River 0 The Indians couldn't match CR's first half goal in a Henlopen Conference loss. The defeat was IR's first of the season as it dropped to 2-1 overall. Indian River 8, Sts. Peter & Paul 0 LeighAnn Ambrose and Brittany Croll sparked the offensive outburst for the Indians in a nonconference contest. Ambrose scored three goals and Croll scored two more for IR, which held advantages of 20-6 in shots and 15-3 in penalty corners. Jackie Gray, Mandy Richards and Holly Miskin scored the other goals for Indian River. Goalie Lisa Morrisey posted four saves for the shutout. Indian River 5, Polytech 1 Leigh Ann Ambrose's hat trick propelled the Indians to the Henlopen Conference triumph.
