OT to Archmere |

After entering overtime tied 7-7, Archmere pulled ahead 14-7 on a 3-yard run by halfback C.J. Hertrick. The Bulldogs came right back, though, as running back Jermel Horsey scored to make it 14-13. Laurel had taken a 7-0 lead on the first play of the second period on a two-yard run by fullback Jamin Pugh. The drive was set up by a fumble recovery and included nice running by Horsey. The Bulldogs had their chances to avenge last season's 20-6 season-opening loss to the Auks, but five turnovers and 150 yards in penalties killed those hopes even though Laurel held Archmere to less than 125 yards of total offense. "We wouldn't have even been in overtime if we had taken the mistakes out," said Laurel head coach Mike Pugh. "I felt like we had Archmere and shouldn't have been in overtime with them, but we kept shooting ourselves in the foot. Every time we did something, it ended up getting called back."
