The Bulldogs captured the Henlopen Conference victory with goals by Casey Ralph and Megan Taylor. Ralph was assisted by Traci McCrea, while Taylor was assisted by Lenona Stancell. The Bullodgs led 14-10 in thos and 14-10 in penalty corners. Goalie Nikki Johnson posted the shutout with 4 saves. Laurel improved to 4-8 overall with the win.
Laurel 2, Polytech 0
The Bulldogs blanked Polytech in a Henlopen Conference game on first half goals by Candace Gaull and Megan Taylor. Nia Whitney and Casey Ralph registered assists. Laurel led 20-7 in shots. Both teams had 14 penalty corners. The win raised Laurel to 3-8 overall.
Indian River 2, Laurel 1
The Bulldogs battled the Indians before succumbing on a second half goal in the Henlopen South contest. Summer Spicer scored Laurel's goal in the first half on an assist from Traci McCrea. Laurel was outshot 16-10 and trailed 20-6 in penalty corners. Nikki Johnson made 10 saves.
Caesar Rodney 5, Laurel 0
The Bulldogs were victimized by Rider senior Courtney Abbott's four goals in the Henlopen Conference defeat. Goalie Kate Ward recorded 7 saves for Laurel.
Lake Forest 3, Laurel 2
The Bulldogs hung tough despite being outshot 18-4 and trailing 22-6 in penalty corners. Casey Ralph and Traci McCrae scored the goals for Laurel. The loss dropped Laurel to 2-5-1 overall.
Smyrna 4, Laurel 1
The Bulldogs played tough for a half as they trailed only 2-1 at halftime of the Henlopen Conference game. Casey Ralph scored Laurel's goal.
Laurel 2, Woodbridge 0
The Bulldogs recorded the Henlopen Conference victory behind a stingy defense.
Head coach Margo Morris lauded her defense, particularly midfielders Traci McCrea and Summer Spicer and back Erin Oliver.
Lenona Stancell and Casey Ralph scored the Bulldogs' goals at 4:08 of the first half and 4:27 of the second half. Stancell assisted Ralph on her goal.
Laurel dominated the contest, outshooting Woodbridge 27-1 and taking a 19-8 edge in penalty corners.
The win raised Laurel to 2-5 overall.
Milford 4, Laurel 2
The Bulldogs got two goals from Lenona Stancell and 8 saves from goalie Katie Gordy. Laurel trailed 14-3 in shots.
Cape Henlopen 7, Laurel 0
The Bulldogs were unable to keep up with the powerful Vikings in a Henlopen Conference contest. Goalie Katie Gordy registered 18 saves for Laurel, which was outshot 27-1. The Bulldogs trailed 15-3 in penalty corners.
Laurel 3, Dover 0
The Bulldogs blanked Dover behind goalie Katie Gordy's 7 saves. Melissa Phillips, Casey Ralph and Lenona Stancell scored goals for the Bulldogs, who rose to 1-1 in the Henlopen Conference and 1-3 overall.
Delmar 5, Laurel 2
The Bulldogs played the vaunted Wildcats tough in the first half before Delmar assumed control in the second half.
Laurel was tied 2-2 at halftime with a Delmar squad that hasn't lost in 51 consecutive Henlopen Conference outings.
The Bulldogs fell behind 2-0 in the first half but scored twice in the half's final 8 minutes on a pair of goals by Melissa Phillips to pull even at the half.
Delmar broke away in the second half, though, with a pair of goals in less than two minutes time.
Delmar held a 14-10 advantage in shots and a 23-5 edge in penalty corners.
The Bulldogs are now 0-3 overall and 0-2 in the conference.
