Milford 4, Red Lion 1
The Bucs stopped a late-season slump with a nonconference win in their regular season finale.
Milford had gone 0-2-2 in its previous four games after starting the season at 11-0. The victory improved Milford to 12-2-2 overall heading into the state tournament.
Andrea Fleming sparked the Bucs with two goals. Diane Green and Carrie Greer scored the other two.
Green, Katie Washington and Julie Wyatt all had assists for the Bucs, who outshot Red Lion 20-2.
Milford awaits word on its first round opponent in the state tournament. The 16-team tourney begins Nov. 7. The field will be announced on Sunday, Nov. 4.
Milford 1, Caesar Rodney 1
The Bucs' late-season slump continued with the tie against the Riders. Milford trailed 23-10 in shots and 22-7 in penalty corners. Carrie Grier gave the Bucs a 1-0 lead in the first half. Goalie Katie Holloway registered 11 saves.
Since starting the season at 11-0 overall, the Bucs have gone 0-2-2 to fall to 11-2-2 overall.
The Bucs have one regular season game remaining against Red Lion on Nov. 1. Pairings for the 2001 state field hockey tournament will be announced on Sunday, Nov. 4.
Sussex Central 1, Milford 0
The slumping Bucs dropped out of contention for the Henlopen Conference title with the devastating loss to the Knights. The Bucs, with two conference losses, could still tie first-place Cape Henlopen in the standings but Cape holds the tie-breaker advantage by virtue of a 4-0 win over Milford on Oct. 19. Against Sussex Central, Milford led 12-6 in shots and 10-7 in penalty corners but couldn't find the cage. Lindsay Moore's goal at 20:40 of the second half gave the Knights the win.
Milford 1, Seaford 1
The Bucs avoided a major upset when Holly Van Auken scored with 9:40 remaining in the Henlopen Conference game. Milford trailed 1-0 at halftime to a team it had beaten 6-2 earlier in the season. Goalie Katie Holloway posted 15 saves for the Bucs, who trailed 19-13 in shots. The Bucs led 11-10 in penalty corners. Milford is now 11-1-1 overall.

Milford 3, Delmar 2
The Bucs set up a showdown with Cape Henlopen for the Henlopen Conference championship with the nail-biting victory over Delmar.
Milford trailed 2-1 in the second half before Andrea Fleming and Kelly Simon scored to lift the Bucs to 9-0 in the conference and 11-0 overall.
Simon scored the game-winner with just 1:28 left to put Milford into a showdown with perennial power Cape Henlopen on Thursday, Oct. 18.
Milford hosts Cape, which is 9-1 in the conference and 11-1 overall, at 4 p.m. in a game that may well determine the conference champion. Cape lost to Smyrna for its lone conference defeat.
Milford, which won the Henlopen South title in 1996, has never won the conference championship. If it beats Cape, the Bucs will still have conference games remaining against Seaford, Sussex Central and Caesar Rodney.
Cape shared the conference title with Delmar last season and won three straight titles from 1995-97. The Vikings also reached the state championship game last year. The Cape program has won or shared nine conference titles.
Against Delmar, the Bucs were actually outplayed as they trailed 16-6 in penalty corners and 11-6 in shots.
But Carrie Greer gave the Bucs a 1-0 halftime lead and after Delmar took its 2-1 lead, the Bucs bounced back to remain undefeated.
Milford 6, Seaford 2
The Bucs took over sole possession of first place in the Henlopen Conference standings with its victory and with Cape Henlopen's upset loss to Smyrna on Oct. 11. Milford outshot Seaford 19-8 and cashed in on three goals by Carrie Greer and two by Andrea Fleming. Julie Wyatt scored Milford's other goal. Katie Washington recorded two assists and Fleming added another. The Bucs, now 10-0 in the conference and overall, face a showdown with Cape for a possible conference title on Thursday, Oct. 18, at home. The Bucs also face perennial conference power Delmar on Oct. 16.
Milford 3, Polytech 1
The Bucs dominated the Panthers in a Henlopen Conference contest to rise to 9-0 overall and in the conference. Diane Green, Lauren Haldeman and Katie Washington scored the Bucs' goals. Goalie Katie Holloway recorded 8 saves. Milford posted advantages of 17-9 in shots and 13-1 in penalty corners. The Bucs are on track for a showdown with unbeaten Cape Henlopen for a possible conference title on Thursday, Oct. 18.
Milford 3, Indian River 2
The unbeaten Bucs rebounded quickly from a late Indian River goal to capture the Henlopen Conference win on the last of Andrea Fleming's three goals. Fleming scored her final goal with 2:15 remaining, just 15 seconds after Indian River tied the score 2-2 on a goal by Brittany Croll. Kelly Simon assisted Fleming's first goal. Goalie Katie Holloway posted 7 saves for Milford, which rose to 8-0 overall and in the conference. Milford led 24-15 in shots.
Milford 1, Sussex Central 0
The Bucs kept their hopes for a Henlopen Conference championship alive with a big win over Sussex Central. Carrie Greer scored Milford's goal on an assist from Julie Wyatt. Central led 9-7 in shots and 12-10 in penalty corners. Katie Holloway earned the shutout with 8 saves. The Bucs are now 7-0 overall.
Milford 5, Sussex Tech 1
The unbeaten Bucs rolled to the Henlopen Conference win with five unanswered goals after Tech took a 1-0 lead. Scoring goals for Miliford were Carrie Grier, Diane Green and Andrea Fleming. Katie Washington had two assists. Milford outshot Tech 10-4 and led 6-5 in penalty corners.
Milford 4, Laurel 2
The Bucs remained unbeaten as Andrea Fleming recorded two goals and an assist. Diane Green and Kelly Graybeal added Milford's other goals. Milford led 14-3 in shots.
Milford 3, Woodbridge 0
The Bucs got two goals from Carie Greer and another from Andrea Fleming. Milford led 29-3 in shots and 12-2 in penalty corners. Kelly Graybeal, Kelly Simon and Diane Green registered assists.
Milford 2, Smyrna 1
The Bucs rose to 2-0 in the Henlopen Conference and overall behind Diane Green's two goals. Green was assisted by Andrea Fleming and Amy Wyatt. Goalie Katie Holloway recorded 10 saves for the Bucs, who trailed 11-8 in shots and 10-2 in penalty corners.
Milford 5, Dover 2
The Bucs got two goals apiece from Katie Washington and Andrea Fleming in the Henlopen Confernce victory. Milford led 4-1 at the half. Kelly Simon added a goal and three assists. Katie Holloway posted four saves in goal. Milford led 15-11 in shots and 10-4 in penalty corners.
