Sussex Central 0, Laurel 0 The Golden Knights finished the regular season at 8-5-1 overall and will now wait for Sunday's announcement of the 2001 state tournament field to see if their season continues. The Knights outshot Laurel 10-7 but couldn't get the ball in the cage. Laurel led 18-15 in penalty corners. Julie Mathias and Ashley Jones combined for three saves and the shutout. Sussex Central 1, Milford 0 The Golden Knights played the role of spoiler with a Henlopen Conference upset that knocked Milford out of the conference title race. Lindsay Moore's goal with 20:40 left in the second half proved to be the game-winner. Goalie Ashley Jones posted 7 saves to lift the Knights, who were outshot 12-6 and trailed 10-7 in penalty corners. Central is now 8-5 overall. Cape Henlopen 4, Sussex Central 0 The Golden Knights couldn't muster any offense against the powerful Vikings. Ashley Jones posted 13 saves for the Knights, who fell to 7-5 overall. Sussex Central 1, Lake Forest 0 (OT) The Golden Knights improved to 6-5 in the Henlopen Conference and 7-5 overall on a goal by Beth Moore at 6:28 of the overtime period. Moore was assisted on the winning goal by Jamie Hudson. Ashley Jones posted 12 saves in goal for the Knights, who trailed 12-10 in shots. Central led 14-12 in penalty corners. Sussex Central 1, Smyrna 0 The Golden Knights rose to .500 with the tense Henlopen Conference victory. Becky McDowell scored at the 21:17 mark of the second half on an assist from her sister, Erin McDowell, while Ashley Jones' 8 saves preserved the win. The Knights rose to 5-5 in the conference and 6-5 overall despite being outshot 9-3. Central did hold a 14-4 advantage in penalty corners. Sussex Central 1, Caesar Rodney 0 (OT) The Golden Knights won the key Henlopen Conference game with a goal by Kimmy Bausch in overtime. Sussex Central 2, Polytech 0 The Golden Knights used a pair of goals by Jamie Hudson to post the Henlopen Conference shutout. Kimmy Bausch and Megan Groman registererd assists as the Knights rose to 3-3 overall. Ashley Jones recorded the shutout. Indian River 1, Sussex Central 0 The Golden Knights couldn't match a first half goal by the Indians in the Henlopen Conference loss to their district rivals. Goalie Ashley Jones had 7 saves for the Knights, who slipped to 2-3 overall. Central held an 11-10 edge in shots and a 13-10 edge in penalty corners. Wilmington Christian 3, Sussex Central 1 Kimmy Bausch scored for the Golden Knights on an assist from Beth Moore in the nonconference loss to the perennial upstate power. Sussex Central battled the Crusaders to a 0-0 halftime tie but fell behind 2-0 in the second half before Bausch's goal. The Crusaders sealed the outcome on a goal by Michelle Zbed to rise to 3-0-1 overall. Sussex Central is 2-2 overall. Sussex Central 6, Woodbridge 1 The Golden Knights got two goals apiece from Kim Bausch and Kathy Pettyjohn in rising to 2-1 overall and in the conference. Jamie Hudson and Becky McDowell scored the other goals for Central, which outshot Woodbridge 11-8. Sussex Central 3, Sussex Tech 2 The Golden Knights used a goal by Kim Bausch with 9:55 remaining in the game to nip rival Sussex Tech in a Henlopen Conference matchup. Central took a 2-1 lead early in the second half on a goal by Beth Moore at the 19:35 mark. Tech tied the game midway through the second half on a goal by Shari Benson before Bausch knocked in the game-winner. The Knights' first half goal was scored by Kim Jones. Sussex Central is now 1-1 overall and in the conference. Delmar 1, Sussex Central 0 The Golden Knights pushed Delmar to the limit before becoming the Wildcats' 50th consecutive Henlopen Conference victim.
