St. Elizabeth 26, Seaford 0 Photo: Running back Aaron White rushed for 93 yards. One of football's golden rules is, "You can't make mistakes against good teams."
Seaford actually played the Vikings tough, yielding a 199-161 advantage to St. E's in total yardage. But turnovers and penalties -- including a fumble that was returned for a touchdown -- led to three St. E's touchdowns that put the Blue Jays on the losing end. Such mistakes put the Jays down 20-0 at halftime as they fell to 1-2 overall entering the Henlopen Conference Southern Division schedule at defending Division II state champion Delmar on Saturday, Oct. 6, at 3 p.m. Seaford contributed greatly to another St. E touchdown drive with three consecutive penalties totalling 43 yards that set the Vikings up for a 1-yard touchdown run. Tailback Aaron White led the Blue Jays with 93 yards rushing on 22 carries. Fullback Brian Batson, a 100-yard rusher in each of Seaford's first two games, was limited to six carries by a St. Elizabeth defense that keyed on him throughout. Quarterback Nick Pegelow had his most difficult outing with 4 completions in 10 attempts and 2 interceptions. Fall 2001 Index | Seaford Index | Sports Index |
