State Soccer Tourney |
Representing County Three Sussex County teams have qualified for the 2001 Delaware High School Boys' Soccer Tournament. In pairings announced Friday, Nov. 2, 2001, Indian River, Milford and Sussex Central qualified for the 16-team tourney. Indian River, riding an 8-match win streak, earned the highest seed out of the Henlopen Conference at No. 5. The Indians, now 13-3 overall, face No. 12 A.I. DuPont on Tuesday, Nov. 6, at 6 p.m. at Milford. Milford, seeded 8th, and Sussex Central, seeded 14th, open the tournament on Wednesday, Nov. 7. Milford faces No. 9 Tatnall at 8 p.m. at Polytech while Central, at 12-4, squares off against No. 3 Salesianum at 6 p.m., also at Polytech. Caesar Rodney and Dover also earned berths out of the Henlopen. Seeded 7th, Dover faces Wilmington Friends on Nov. 6 at 8 p.m. at Polytech. CR, seeded 16th, meets top-seeded Wilmington Christian at 6 p.m. on Nov. 6 at Newark. Other first round pairings on Nov. 6 match No. 4 Glasgow against No. 13 Red Lion at Newark at 8 p.m. In other first round matches on Nov. 7, No. 2 St. Mark's faces No. 15 Tower Hill at A.I. DuPont at 8 p.m. and No. 6 Concord and No. 11 St. Elizabeth meet at A.I. DuPont at 6 p.m. First round winners advance to quarterfinal matches on Saturday, Nov. 10. The semifinals will be Nov. 14 with the finals slated for Nov. 17. |
