Continues at Tech While Bill Collick wasn't able to recreate the magic of his coaching days at Delaware State in his first season with the Sussex Tech High School football program last year, he did manage to coax the Ravens to their first win in two years. Building on the momentum of that win over rival Polytech in the season's final game is of paramount importance to the Raven coaching staff as it prepares for the 2001 season. Collick lost first team all-purpose all-conference selection George Smith and second team defensive end Blair Spicer and linebacker Rob Twilley to graduation. He also lost second team all-conference fullback Prince Kemmerlin to Milford. But he'll continue the building process behind second team all-conference defensive back Morgan Schirmer, who will play halfback on offense, and honorable mention selection Jamil Trott, a split end and defensive end who will move to tight end this year. Marcus Morris returns at quarterback a year older and wiser, Collick said, while key newcomers include fullback Kevin Maull and Chris Hopkins at split end and defensive back. Collick likes Maull's speed and hopes he can become a big part of the Ravens' offense. Following is a capsule preview of the Ravens' 2001 campaign. We were able to get some kids to include weight lifting and power metrics in the offseason. We hope that along with a little taste of victory, that will help us to move forward. We've had a philosophy of ball control and attempting to improve the offensive line. If we do that and win some wars up there, at times we'll be able to control the ball and keep ourselves in ballgames." Tech Index | Sports Index | News Index |
