So after seeing a 21-7 lead disappear against Cape Henlopen, the Ravens handed the ball to Cape transfer Kevin Maull, and the junior fullback ripped off a 52-yard touchdown run with 3:40 remaining for the win. In snapping a two-game losing streak, the Ravens rose to 1-2 in the Henlopen North and 5-2 overall with the win. Cape fell to 0-2 in the North and 3-3 overall. Just before Maull's game-winning run, the Vikings had gone ahead 22-21 on a touchdown run and two-point conversion run by running backs Thaddeus Shockley and Larry Miller, respectively.
The Ravens went ahead 14-0 in the first half on a 3-yard touchdown run by Jamie Tinley and a 10-yard run by Morgan Schirmer. Schirmer's TD was set up by a punt block by Jamil Trott. Cape pulled within 14-7 at halftime, but the Ravens went up 21-7 when Tinley scored from 11 yards out. The Ravens have a week off before visiting Milford on Friday, Nov. 2, for a 7:30 p.m. game. The Sussex Tech High School football team had made too much progress this season to let a golden opportunity for its first Henlopen Conference Northern Division victory in 2001 slip by.
Those points completed a Cape comeback from a 21-7 deficit in the third period.
