Woodbridge's offense exploded late in a nonconference game that it led just 7-6 in the second half.

In rising to 2-1 overall, the Blue Raiders led 7-0 at halftime but saw Polytech pull within 7-6 following an interception.

The Raider defense stopped the two-point conversion to preserve the narrow lead, and that's when the offense erupted.

Scoring 26 unanswered points, the Raiders sandwiched a pair of 6-yard TD runs by running back Andre Cannon around a 1-yard plunge by quarterback Jamil Young to take a comfortable lead.

Cannon, who finished with 136 yards rushing on 25 carries, returned an interception 42 yards for the Raiders' final touchdown.

Cannon has rushed for 274 yards and scored five touchdowns in the Raiders' last two games.

Woodbridge tight end James Faulkner"Our young offensive line controlled the line of scrimmage for most of the game," said Woodbridge head coach John Parker.

Young hit tight end James Faulkner with a 29-yard scoring pass to put the Raiders up 7-0.

Placekicker John Passwaters was 3-for-4 on extra point kicks.

The Raiders hurt themselves in the first half with a penalty that negated a touchdown.

They also narrowly missed a feld goal on another first half scoring opportunity.

Woodbridge continues its nonconference schedule Friday, Sept. 28, with a 7:30 p.m. home game against unbeaten Sussex Tech, which rose to 3-0 with a 34-12 victory over Indian River in another game Friday night.
