The Blue Raiders played Tech tough but were unable to score in the Henlopen Conference game. Nikki Youse registered 6 saves in goal. Woodbridge trailed 13-10 in shots and 11-5 in penalty corners.
Caravel 5, Woodbridge 1
The Blue Raiders got a second half goal from Lauren Holcomb in the nonconference loss. Woodbridge trailed 18-4 in shots and 18-5 in penalty corners. The Raiders trailed 2-0 at halftime. Goalie Nikki Youse posted 10 saves.
Delmar 5, Woodbridge 0
The Blue Raiders trailed 30-10 in shots in the Henlopen Conference contest. Goalie Nikki Youse had 9 saves.
Woodbridge 2, Polytech 0
The Blue Raiders posted their second straight win and goalie Nikki Youse recorded her second straight shutout in the Henlopen Conference victory.
Youse registered 11 saves to lead the Raiders, who rose to 3-9 overall.
"It was a very hard-fought game," said Woodbridge head coach Debbie Vanderwende. "It was a great shutout for Nikki Youse in the cage. The line worked together well with good 'give-goes', especially on the left side. We had excellent passing and good hustle."
Amanda Collison scored the Raiders' first goal at the 17:11 mark of the second half on an assist from Dusti Vanderwende. Lauren Holcomb scored the second goal less than a minute later, at the 16:13 mark.
Woodbridge led 13-12 in shots and trailed 13-12 in penalty corners.
Woodbridge 6, Red Lion Christian 0
Amanda Collison sparked the nonconference romp with four goals and an assist.
Collison scored all three of Woodbridge's goals in the first half, added an assist on a goal by Melody Diamond in the second half, and scored the Raiders' final goal late in the game.
"Amanda Collison had a fantastic game," said Woodbridge head coach Debbie Vanderwende, whose team rose to 2-9 overall.
Dusti Vanderwende scored the Blue Raiders' other goal on one of Kaylan Hunsberger's two assists. Vanderwende also had two assists.
Goalie Nikki Youse recorded the shutout with five saves. Woodbridge led 16-5 in shots and 11-7 in penalty corners.
"The girls had great passes and were able to move the ball effectively down the field and in behind the goalie," said coach Vanderwende. "Great defense allowed us to dominate."
Dover 2, Woodbridge 0
Nikki Youse recorded 6 saves for the Blue Raiders in the Henlopen Conference loss. Woodbridge was outshot 9-2 and trailed in penalty corners, 13-3.
Caesar Rodney 7, Woodbridge 0
The Blue Raiders couldn't match the Riders in the Henlopen Conference game. Nikki Youse and Ashley Thompson combined for 13 saves in goal for the Raiders, who were outshot 33-1.
Laurel 2, Woodbridge 0
The Blue Raiders played well defensively to keep a game in which they were outshot 27-1 close. In falling to 1-6 overall and 1-5 in the Henlopen Conference, the Raiders got 13 saves from goalies Nikkie youse and Ashley Thompson. Laurel scored a goal in each half, one by Lenona Stancell and one by Casey Ralph.
Indian River 11, Woodbridge 0
The Blue Raiders fell to 1-5 overall and 1-4 in the Henlopen Conference. Nikki Youse and Ashley Thompson combined for 15 saves in goal for the Raiders, who were outshot 26-2.
Milford 3, Woodbridge 0
The Blue Raiders slipped to 1-4 overall and 0-4 in the Henlopen Conference.
"It was a very good effort in a very physical game," said Woodbridge head coach Debbie Vanderwende.
Raider goalies Nikki Youse and Ashley Thompson recorded 15 saves. Woodbridge trailed Milford 29-3 in shots and 12-1 in penalty corners.
Woodbridge 7, Delcastle 0
The Blue Raiders picked up their first win of the season in grand style as four different players scored goals.
Amanda Collison led the offensive explosion with three goals and an assist, while Lauren Holcomb added two goals and two assists.
Also scoring goals were Kim Haring and Kaylan Hunsberger. Dusti Vanderwende assisted on the first three goals.
"It was an outstanding effort by the front line and middies to dominate and move the ball," said Woodbridge head coach Debbie Vanderwende, whose team outshot Delcastle 38-1 and held an 11-0 advantage in penalty corners.
Nikki Youse and Ashley Thompson combined for the shutout in goal for the Raiders, who led 4-0 at halftime.
Holcomb scored first at the 27:52 mark, followed by Collison at the 27:11 mark, Haring at 13:38, and Hunsberger at 1:06.
In the second half, Collison scored at 11:43, Holcomb at 9:28, and Collison again at 5:11.
The Raiders are now 1-3 overall.
Sussex Central 6, Woodbridge 1
The Blue Raiders fell to 0-3 overall and in the conference with the loss. Stacey Willey scored the goal for the Raiders, who were outshot 11-8.
Seaford 8, Woodbridge 1
The Blue Raiders took a 1-0 lead early in the game but couldn't hold off a powerful onslaught by the Blue Jays.
Lauren Holcomb gave Woodbridge a 1-0 lead on an assist from Amy Cook just three minutes into the game before Seaford rallied behind four goals by Shannon Taylor.
The Raiders were outshot 27-14 but were even with Seaford in penalty corners at 10-10. Nikki Youse and Ashley Thompson combined to make 12 saves in goal.
"Woodbridge girls put forth an outstanding effort," said Blue Raider head coach Debbie Vanderwende, whose team fell to 0-2 in the conference and overall. "The score doesn't reflect the play."
Cape Henlopen 4, Woodbridge 0
The Blue Raiders dropped their season- and Henlopen Conference opener to the defending state finalists. Goalies Nikki Youse and Ashley Thompson combined for 16 saves. Woodbridge was outshot 25-6 and trailed in penalty corners 15-6. Cape scored two goals in each half.
