Although the Vikings have lost their first two games of the season for the first time in at least four years, they did correct many of the mistakes they had made in the second half of a 41-13 season-opening loss to Laurel on Sept. 6. With two weeks to prepare, Cape gave Christiana all it could handle as running back Stephen Shockley scored on a 60-yard touchdown run and hooked up with quarterback Zach Plummer on a 34-yard TD pass. Shockley's TD run gave Cape a 6-0 lead, but Christiana came back with a pair of touchdowns to go up 14-6. "That game against Laurel, it's hard to put a finger on it because it was 6-6 at halftime," said Cape head coach Bill Geppert. "Then we had the delay of game penalty (to start the second half) because we were dedicating the stadium. We still can't explain it. Everything that could go wrong did go wrong." Cape faces Glasgow in another nonconference game on Friday, Sept. 27, at 7:30 p.m. Cape Index | Sports Index |
