Sussex Central 35, Cape Henlopen 0 The Cape Henlopen High School football team was unable to get any momentum going in the Henlopen Conference Northern Division battle. In falling to 1-4 overall and 1-1 in the Henlopen North, the Vikings have now lost four straight to Sussex Central and are off to their most difficult start in recent memory. Sussex Central, meanwhile, rose to 7-0 overall and 3-0 in the Northern Division. Despite the lopsided score, Cape did play Central tough for all but 13 seconds of the first half. Central led just 6-0 at that point, but an 80-yard touchdown run by Will James increased the lead to 12-0 at the break and deflated the Vikings. Viking defensive end Eric Wharton gave his team a shot at a score in the second period when he intercepted a pass at the Central 49, but the Vikings couldn't put together a drive and were forced to punt. Carlos Brittingham led Cape with 65 yards rushing on 12 carries. Cape Index | Sports Index |
