The Indian River High School football team fell behind 26-0 in the first quarter and never recovered in the Henlopen Conference Southern Division contest. The Indians fell to 2-2 in the Henlopen South and 3-4 overall with their second straight loss. Laurel, fighting for a state tournament berth, rose to 3-1 in the division and 6-1 overall. End Delane Jacobs scored the Indians' lone touchdown on a 20-yard pass from quarterback Grant Hastings in the fourth quarter. Fullback Mike McCray added the two-point conversion run for IR. The Indians will try to snap their losing streak in a home game against Polytech on Friday, Nov. 1, at 7:30 p.m. Polytech won its first game of the season over Seaford, 14-6, on Friday, Oct. 25.
