Laurel 45, Woodbridge 14 Photos: Laurel wide receiverAnton Ridley. The Laurel High School football team got the frustrations out of its first loss of the season to Delmar a week ago out of its system with the easy Henlopen Conference Southern Division victory.
Quarterback Andy Hartstein threw for three touchdowns, including a 34-yarder and a 4-yarder to end Anton Ridley. He also connected with Jeff Downes on a 44-yard TD toss on the way to a 5-for-7, 102-yard performance. Ridley scored another touchdown on a 60-yard return of an interception. He finished with 4 receptions for 58 yards. Laurel succeeded on the ground, too, as tailback Jermel Horsey rushed for 79 yards and fullback Chris Horsey added 60. Chris Horsey scored Laurel's first points on a 9-yard touchdown run. Tailbacks DeVry Hill and Jeremy Jones also scored touchdowns on 34- and 5-yard runs, respectively. The Bulldogs led 39-0 at halftime. They face Milford in a key game for state tournament positioning on Friday, Oct. 18, at 7:30 p.m. Laurel Index | Sports Index |
