The defense didn't allow a point against the defending Bayside Conference champions, who went 10-0 last season before losing in the Maryland state tournament. Wi-Hi's only touchdown came on an interception return in the fourth quarter. The Knights scored in the first quarter when quarterback David Pusey hit fullback Jamil Young, a two-way all-stater who transferred to Central from Woodbridge this year, with a 32-yard touchdown pass. Sussex Central scored its eventual winning points when a Wi-Hi punt snap sailed out of the end zone for a safety in the second period. The Knights host district rival Indian River in another nonconference contest on Friday, Sept. 13, at 7:30 p.m. IR lost to Nandua in its season-opener, 14-7. SCHS Index | Sports Index |
