Sussex Tech 34, Delcastle 0 Sussex Tech running back Kevin Maull bursts through the line. The Sussex Tech High School football team continued its progression with another pummeling of Delcastle in its nonconference season-opener.
The Ravens wasted little time getting their offense moving behind new quarterback Brandon Hudson, a sophomore who guided Delmar to the Division II state title last season. With Hudson behind center and former quarterback Marcus Morris at halfback, Tech drove 59 yards in 6 plays to start the game with a 5-yard touchdown run by Evans with just two minutes expired. After that, the Ravens took advantage of a poor Delcastle punt and motored 43 yards in 9 plays with Maull going over from the 1. Maull and Evans each finished with 93 yards rushing to key the Ravens' 322-yard ground attack. Tech's defense, meanwhile, held Delcastle to 173 yards. In the second period, Tech went ahead 21-0 when Thomas Jenkins scored from a yard out on a play set up by a 56-yard run by Morris. Hudson and Morris then connected on a 26-yard touchdown pass in the third period to give Tech a 28-0 advantage. Tech continues its nonconference schedule with a road game at Hodgson on Saturday, Sept. 14, at 1 p.m. The Silver Eagles reached the Division II state playoffs last season but lost to Delmar in the semifinals. Tech beat Hodgson last year, 14-13, in overtime. Tech Index | Sports Index |
