Indian River 7, Woodbridge 2 Photo: Woodbridge head coach John Parker The Woodbridge High School offense continued to look for a spark as it failed to score a point in its Henlopen Conference Southern Division opener. In their first loss to Indian River since 1998, the Blue Raiders got as close as Indian River's 10-yard line but were stopped there as they fell to 1-3 overall with their second consecutive defeat. The Raiders' only points came when the Indians took a safety to avoid giving Woodbridge good field position. The two points were the fewest Woodbridge has scored since a 33-0 loss to Delmar in the first round of the Division II state tournament. Indian River scored its only points on a 4-yard run by fullback Therman Hagans in the first period. For the season, the Raiders are averaging 17.5 points a game but 10 of those points came in a triple-overtime loss to Seaford and 41 more came in a win over West Nottingham (Md.). In their three losses, the Raiders have averaged only 9.6 points. The Raiders visit Laurel Henlopen South contest on Friday, Oct. 11, at 7:30 p.m. Laurel is 3-1 after a 31-0 loss to Delmar on Friday, Oct. 4. The Raiders lost to Laurel 8-6 last year.
