1999 Football Recap
Polytech 34, Sussex Tech 30
The Ravens exploded for their highest point total of the season but it wasn't enough to prevent a winless season. Sussex Tech had one last chance to win the game but time ran out after they connected on a pass play to the Polytech 3. Running back Osmond Eley scored three touchdowns for the Ravens and Blair Spicer and quarterback Travis Schirmer scored the others. The Ravens finished the 1999 campaign with records of 0-6 in the Henlopen North and 0-10 overall.
Sussex Central 48, Sussex Tech 24
The Ravens put up a fight but couldn't quite stay with the unbeaten Knights in this cross-town rivalry. The loss dropped Tech to 0-5 in the North and 0-9 overall.
Seaford 36, Sussex Tech 19
The Ravens broke a four-game scoreless streak but were unable to break their season-long losing streak as they remained winless with the Henlopen North loss to previously winless Seaford. The Ravens are now 0-4 in the North and 0-8 overall.
Dover 38, Sussex Tech 0
The Ravens suffered their fourth straight shutout in falling to 0-7 overall and 0-3 in the Henlopen North. Tech has been outscored 113-0 in its last four games.
Caesar Rodney 33, Sussex Tech 0
The Ravens fell to 0-6 overall and 0-2 in the Henlopen North with the loss to the state's top-ranked team. Tech managed only four first downs and 84 total yards, with running back Osmond Eley accounting for 51 of them on the ground.
Cape Henlopen 32, Sussex Tech 0
Little went right again as the Ravens dropped to 0-5 overall with their second straight shutout loss. Osmond Eley's 79 yards rushing was the lone highlight as Tech dropped to 0-1 in the Henlopen North.
Milford 12, Sussex Tech 0
The Ravens remained winless thanks to two long runs by Milford. Osmond Eley and Robbie Twilley led the Raven running game with 64 and 45 yards, respectively. It's the first time Tech has been shut out this season.
Indian River 14, Sussex Tech 12 (OT)
The Ravens came within an eyelash of their first victory but succumbed on an an Indian River touchdown and two-point conversion run in overtime. Tech went ahead 12-6 in overtime on Blair Spicer's 5-yard run but the two-point conversion run failed. Robby Twilley scored on a 3-yard run in regulation.
Hodgson 29, Sussex Tech 14
Tech was never in this non-conference game as Hodgson grabbed a 23-0 halftime lead. The Ravens scored twice in the second half on an 11-yard touchdown pass from Travis Schirmer to George Smith and a six-yard touchdown run by Shaun Evans.
Delcastle 20, Sussex Tech 6
Sussex Tech took a 6-0 first quarter lead on a 2-yard run by Jamie Tinley in its season-opener with upstate foe Delcastle, but the Cougars rebounded quickly for a 12-6 halftime lead en route to the win.
