Sussex Central 5, Indian River 3

The Indians saw their eight-game winning streak snapped when Sussex Central catcher Blake Hershelman belted a two-run homer in the bottom of the seventh inning. IR, which slipped to 8-4 in the Henlopen Conference and 10-6 overall, had just tied the score 3-3 in the sixth inning when Justin Hoban's double scored Josh Dorman. IR got a strong performance early from starting pitcher Billy Clemens, who struck out six in the first four innings. Clemens also singled in Chris Rickwood in the first inning. A double by Russell Hooper in the third scored Rickwood to put IR up 2-0. A throwing error in the fifth inning, however, started a Knight comeback to tie the game 2-2. The Indians fell behind 3-2 before Hoban's double in the sixth.
