The Bucs suffered a tough blow to their Henlopen Conference title hopes with the loss to the unbeaten Vikings in a battle of the state's two top-ranked teams. In falling to 6-2 in the conference and 11-2 overall, No. 2 Milford fell victim to a pair of big innings by Cape and 8 errors to see their 11-game winning streak broken. Cape scored three runs in the third after Milford had taken a 2-0 lead and then broke the game open with four runs in the sixth. The Bucs took their 2-0 lead when Diane Green singled and scored on Tomeka Robinson's single. Robinson then scored on an error. The Bucs added three more runs to pull within 8-5 in the bottom of the seventh. During that rally, DeNeatra Barkley scored on a fielder's choice by Megan Marshall, who then scored herself. Robinson then drove in Beth White with the Bucs' final run before Cape pitcher Maggie Lingo got the final out with Milford runners on second and third. The Bucs' 11-game winning streak included a 7-0 victory over defending state champion Caravel, which had won 18 straight before that loss to Milford.
