Laurel 57, Woodbridge 31 The Bulldogs picked up a Henlopen South victory behind the marksmanship of Mia Whitney. Whitney scored a game-high 27 points for Laurel. Donna Hitchens added 15 points. The Bulldogs, now 3-15, led 28-13 at halftime. Lake Forest 61, Laurel 38 The Bulldogs dropped the Henlopen South contest despite 10 points from Donna Hopkins. Hopkins sank 2 three-pointers. Caesar Rodney 78, Laurel 29 The Bulldogs couldn't keep up with the Riders, who remained unbeaten in the conference. Laurel was led by Lenona Stancell's 16 points. Sussex Tech 57, Laurel 38 The Bulldogs dropped the contest to the Ravens from the Northern Division. Lekesha Hopkins scored a game-high 16 points for Laurel. Polytech 60, Laurel 40 The Bulldogs lost the game in the first period when they were outscored 22-2. Mia Whitney and Lakesha Hopkins scored 14 points apiece for Laurel, which sank 5 three-pointers. Hopkins had 3 of the three-pointers and Lenona Stancell canned the other two. Milford 48, Laurel 46 The Bulldogs let a golden opportunity for a victory slip away when Milford's Shameka Piper banked in a shot with 14 seconds left. Laurel led the game by 8 points entering the fourth period but succumbed to the Bucs, who had been winless in the conference. Mia Whitney scored 21 points to lead the Bulldogs. Lenona Stancell added 12. Crisfield 38, Laurel 36 The Bulldogs stayed close to the host Crabbers but eventually succumbed in the championship game of the annual Crisfield Girls' Basketball Tournament. Laurel trailed 20-10 at halftime but charged back in the second half to take a 32-26 lead before a 12-4 Crisfield run to close the game. Donna Hitchens' 12 points sparked the Bulldogs. Laurel 72, Holly Grove 37 The Bulldogs took a 20-10 first quarter lead and never looked back in the semifinals of the Crisfield Girls' Basketball Tournament. Laurel outscored Holly Grove 42-6 over the second and third periods to salt the game away. Lenona Stancell's game-high 17 points led the Bulldogs. Donna Hitchens' added 16 points including 3 three-pointers. Indian River 39, Laurel 36 The Bulldogs nearly came all the way back from a 16-point second half deficit but finally succumbed in the Henlopen South game. Courtney Hughes and Mia Whitney sparked the Bulldogs with 14 and 13 points, respectively. Laurel 69, Woodbridge 36 The Bulldogs put up their highest point total of the season against the winless Raiders. Courtney Hughes and Donna Hitchens scored 14 and 13 points, respectively, as the Bulldogs rose to 2-3 overall. Seaford 62, Laurel 28 The Bulldogs held their unbeaten rivals in check for the first two quarters of the Henlopen South game. But after trailing 23-11 at halftime, Laurel was outscored by a 19-4 Seaford explosion that sealed the outcome. Mia Whitney's 10 points paced the Bulldogs. Courtney Hughes scored 7 points. Laurel 42, Lake Forest 33 The Bulldogs bounced back from their loss to Smyrna with a Henlopen South win. Lenona Stancell's 12 points lifted the Bulldogs. Courtney Hughes added 8 more points. Laurel led 26-7 at halftime and held on for the victory. Smyrna 50, Laurel 42 The Bulldogs dropped the Henlopen Conference Southern Division contest. Lenona Stancell scored 9 points and Donna Hitchens and Mia Whitney scored 8 points apiece for Laurel, but they weren't enough to overcome the 36 points of Smyrna's Amanda Magri. Lucesha Hopkins had 7 points. Delmar 40, Laurel 24 The Bulldogs were outscored 12-1 in their season and Henlopen South opener. Lucesha Hopkins led the Bulldogs against their rivals with 11 points. Hopkins sank 2 three-pointers. |
