Smyrna 49, Cape Henlopen 15 The Vikings couldn't match up with the Henlopen Conference Southern Division power in their season-ending dual meet. Cape's Brock Charles won by pin at 215, while Kyle Hopkins (130) and Johnny Longo (215) won by decision. Cape finished its dual meet season with a 6-7 mark in the conference and overall. Cape Henlopen 41, Polytech 29 The Vikings put an end to their two-match losing streak with the Henlopen Conference victory. In rising to 6-6 in the conference and overall, Cape got pins from Johnny Longo at 215, Bryant Bundick at 112, Kyle Hopkins at 145, and Chad Travis at 160. Nick Neihoff and Brock Charles posted major decisions at 171 and 189, respectively, while Will Albanese wo by decision at 135. Milford 41, Cape Henlopen 28 The Vikings fell to 5-6 in the conference and overall with the loss to Milford. Chad Travis and Johnny Longo won by pin at 160 and 215, respectively, while Kyle Hopkins registered a major decision at 130. Bobby Hopkins (145) won by decision. Lake Forest 43, Cape Henlopen 26 The Vikings had their three-meet winning streak stopped by the defending Henlopen Conference Southern Division champions. Nick Niehoff and Ryan Martin posted pins for the Vikings at 171 and 189, respectively. Ray Tartal continued his strong performance at 152 with a major decision, while Kyle Hopkins posted a major decision at 130. The Vikings are now 5-5 in conference and overall. Cape Henlopen 66, Woodbridge 15 The Vikings took advantage of seven Woodbridge forfeits while collecting four pins in their third straight Henlopen Conference triumph. Cape got pins from Brian Bundick at 112, Nick Albanese at 119, Will Albanese at 135 and Ray Tartal at 152. Cape got all of its remaining points from the forfeits. The Vikings are 5-4 in conference and overall after starting the season with three straight losses. Cape Henlopen 56, Indian River 17 The Vikings used five pins and four forfeits to roll to the Henlopen Conference victory. Registering pins for Cape were Kyle Hopkins at 135, Will Albanese at 140, Bobby Hopkins at 152, Ray Tartal at 160, and Johnny Longo at 215. Cape Henlopen 42, Laurel 21 The Vikings used rolled to the Henlopen Conference victory for their third win in their last four dual meets. Ray Tartal got a pin at 152 and the Vikings won four straight matches from 171 to heavyweight. Winning those matches by decision were Andy Bradley at 171, Brock Charles at 189, Johnny Longo at 215, and John DiBattista at heavyweight. Seaford 41, Cape Henlopen 30 Cape saw its two-match winning streak snapped with the Henlopen Conference loss. The Vikings got pins from Bobby Hopkins at 145 and Chad Travis at 160 and a technical fall from Kyle Hopkins at 130. The Vikings, now 2-4 in the conference and overall, also got a major decision from John Longo at 215 and a decision from Kyle King at 125. Cape Henlopen 63, Delmar 7 The Vikings won their second straight dual meet to rise to 2-3 in the Henlopen Conference. Cape recorded seven pins and a technical fall and won another match by disqualification in the rout of Delmar. Winning by pin were Matt Reuther at 103, Bryant Bundick at 112, Kyle Hopkins at 130, Will Albanese at 135, Bobby Hopkins at 145, Andy Bradley at 189, and John Longo at 215. Greg Swift recorded a win by technical fall at 140 and Ray Tartal won by disqualification at 152. Other Cape winners were Kyle King by a major decision at 125, Chad Travis by a decision at 160, and John DiBattista by a decision at heavyweight. Cape Henlopen 58, Dover 12 The Vikings recorded their first victory of the season to rise to 1-3 in the Henlopen Conference and overall. Cape got pins from Matt Reuther at 103, Kyle King at 125, Kyle Hopkins at 135, and Chad Travis at 160. The Vikings also recorded two technical falls by Ray Tartal at 152 and Brock Charles at 189. Other wins were a decision by Bryant Bundick at 112 and an overtime decision by Will Albanese at 140. Caesar Rodney 58, Cape Henlopen 9 Cape became the 86th consecutive regular season dual meet victim for the six-time defending Henlopen Conference champion Riders. Cape's only winners were Kyle and Bobby Hopkins. Kyle won by decision at 135, while Bobby won by pin at 145. Sussex Tech 36, Cape Henlopen 31 The Vikings suffered a heart-breaking loss on a pin in the heavyweight match after coming back from a large deficit. In falling to 0-2 in the Henlopen Conference and overall, Cape fell behind 21-3 before mounting its comeback on pins by Kyle Hopkins at 135 and Will Albanese at 140 and a decision by Bobby Hopkins at 145. Down 24-18 after a Sussex Tech victory at 152, Chad Travis tied the match 24-24 on a pin at 160. The Vikings fell behind again at 30-24, but scored seven straight points on a dramatic double-overtime win by Brock Charles over Tech's David Mears at 189 and a major decision by John Longo at 215 to take its only lead, at 31-30. The Vikings fell behind the perennial Henlopen Conference power Knights 46-3 before getting wins from Andy Bradley, Brock Charles and John Longo late in their opening dual meet of the season. Before the late spurt, only Kyle Hopkins, at 135, had been able to win for the Vikings. Bradley won by major decision at 171, while Charles and Longo won by pin at 189 and 215, respectively.
