Lake Forest 69, Delmar 12 The Wildcats recorded two pins as they fell to 1-11 in the Henlopen Conference. Registering those pins were Brad Vanderwende at 189 and John Workman at heavyweight. Milford 63, Delmar 9 The Wildcats dropped the Henlopen Conference dual meet as they surrendered five pins and three forfeits to Milford. Winning for Delmar were Brad Vanderwende by decision at 189 and Jacob Scarson by forfeit at 215. The Wildcats are 1-9 in the conference. Caesar Rodney 73, Delmar 6 The Wildcats got a pin from Lawrence Sinagra at 160 but couldn't manage any other points against the six-time defending Henlopen Conference champions. Delmar is now 1-8 in the conference and 2-8 overall. Sussex Central 67, Delmar 9 Lawrence Sinagra scored a big victory in a marquee matchup at 160 with a 3-2 decision over defending Henlopen Conference champion Raheim Brunskill. Brad Vanderwende posted the Wildcats' other points with a pin at 189. Delmar fell to 1-7 in the conference and 2-7 overall. Sussex Tech 71, Delmar 5 Lawrence Sinagra scored the Wildcats' only points with a technical fall at 160. Delmar dropped to 1-6 in the conference and 2-6 overall. Dover 60, Delmar 18 The Wildcats recorded three pins in the Henlopen Conference dual meet loss. Registering pins for Delmar were Chris Moorefield at 130, Brad Vanderwende at 215, and John Workman at heavyweight. Delmar dropped to 1-5 in the conference and 2-5 overall. Indian River 49, Delmar 21 The Wildcats fell to 1-4 in the Henlopen Conference and 2-4 overall with the conference defeat. Zach Thompson suffered a loss by technical fall at 119 to defending state champion Will Saylor. Nathan Newberry recorded Delmar's only win on the mat with a decision at 140. The Wildcats got three forfeits from the Indians for their other points. Cape Henlopen 63, Delmar 7 The Wildcats managed only two wins in the Henlopen Conference dual meet loss. Zach Thompson pinned Cape's Nick Albanese in 4:33 at 119 and Lawrence Sinagra decisioned Cape's Brock Charles 8-2 at 189. Cape Henlopen posted eight pins and a technical fall in the win. The Wildcats are 1-3 in the conference and 2-3 overall. Laurel 56, Delmar 9 The Wildcats won only two matches in the dual meet against their Henlopen Conference rivals. In the featured match of the night, Delmar's Lawrence Sinagra beat Ben Ralph 6-0. Delmar's other victory came on a pin by Zach Thompson at 119. Delmar is now 1-2 in the conference and 2-2 overall. Laurel recorded five pins in the win. Seaford 48, Delmar 27 The Wildcats led early but fell behind in the middle weights of the Henlopen Conference dual meet. Delmar went ahead 15-12 after the 130-pound match following a forfeit at 103, a decision by Zach Thompson at 119, and a pin by Chris Moorefield at 130. Seaford, however, reeled off three straight pins and a technical fall to go up 35-15 following the 152-pound bout. Another forfeit at 160 pulled Delmar within 35-21, but the Blue Jays closed the match out with a major decision, a pin and a decision before Delmar got a pin from John Workman at heavyweight. Delmar 52, Nandua (Va.) 30 The Wildcats recorded seven pins to win the nonconference dual meet and rise to 2-0. The fastest pin was recorded by Zach Thompson in 30 seconds at 119. Also registering pins for Delmar were Billy Zerillo at 125, Chris Moorefield at 130, Nathan Newberry at 140, Freddie Baker at 145, Preson Lindsey at 152, and Brad Vanderwende at 189. Jacob Skarson won by a 12-4 decision at 215. The teams traded forfeits in the first two matches before Delmar reeled off three straight pins to go up 24-6. After a pin by Nandua's Mike Austin at 135, the Wildcats posted three more straight pins to take a 42-12 lead following the 152-pound match. Nandua pulled within 42-24 with two pins of its own, but Vanderwein clinched the victory with his pin at 189. Delmar 42, Woodbridge 41 The Wildcats took advantage of six forfeits by Woodbridge to win their season-opening dual meet. The wild Henlopen Conference Southern Division victory wasn't completed, though, until Jacob Skarson recorded a pin at 215 and Jon Workman won by forfeit at heavyweight to bring Delmar back from a 41-30 deficit entering those last two matches. Delmar used four forfeits to jump to a 24-6 advantage after the 130 match, but Woodbridge stormed back with three straight pins and a technical fall to take a 29-24 lead after the 152 bout.
