Indian River 56, Laurel 51
The Bulldogs concluded their 2001-2002 season with a resounding Henlopen Conference victory that gave them records of 6-13 in the conference and 8-13 overall. Laurel outscored Delmar 13-5 in the second quarter to take full command. Mia Whitney led the way with 18 points, while Lenona Stancell and Lacesha Hopkins added 16 and 11 points, respectively.
Indian River 56, Laurel 51
The Bulldogs' comeback fell short in the Henlopen Conference loss. Laurel trailed Indian River 32-21 at halftime before pulling within 40-36 after three quarters. Mia Whitney and Lacesha Hopkins sparked the Bulldogs with 17 points apiece. Lenona Stancell contributed 10 points.
Laurel 66, Woodbridge 28
The Bulldogs rose to 5-12 in the conference and 7-12 overall with another Henlopen Conference win over winless Woodbridge. Mia Whitney and Lenona Stancell led the way with 18 and 16 points, respectively, while Traci McCrae added 11.

The Bulldogs rose to 4-12 in the Henlopen Conference and 6-12 overall with the victory.
Laurel jumped out to a 37-15 halftime lead over winless Woodbridge and never looked back.
Lacesha Hopkins sparked Laurel with 22 points including a three-pointer.
Mia Whitney and Traci McCrea contributed 15 points apiece and Lenona Stancell added 11 more.
Seaford 60, Laurel 22
The Bulldogs dropped the Henlopen Conference contest in a game in which Seaford clinched its second consecutive Southern Division title. Laurel stayed close in the first half as it trailed just 19-14 at halftime, but Seaford put the game away with a 16-3 advantage in the third quarter. Lenona Stancell paced the Bulldogs with 10 points. The Bulldogs are now 3-12 in the conference and 5-12 overall.

The Bulldogs raced to a 40-16 lead after three quarters to secure the Henlopen Conference victory.
Lenona Stancell and Lacesha Hopkins scored 12 points apiece to pace the Bulldogs.
Laurel improved to 3-11 in the conference and 5-11 overall.
Smyrna 57, Laurel 53
The Bulldogs fought back valiantly but were never able to overcome a 19-11 first period deficit in the Henlopen Conference game. Laurel got 15 points from Lacesha Hopkins, 11 apiece from Donna Hitchens and Mia Whitney, and 10 from Lenona Stancell. Laurel fell to 2-11 in the conference and 4-11 overall.
Dover 67, Laurel 64 (OT)
The Bulldogs battled back from a 17-7 deficit in the third quarter to force overtime only to eventually fall in the Henlopen Conference game. Lacesha Hopkins and Mia Whitney paced Laurel with 24 and 19 points, respectively. Hopkins drained 4 three-pointers. Lenona Stancell added 15 points. Laurel fell to 2-10 in the conference and 4-10 overall.
Caesar Rodney 83, Laurel 48
The Bulldogs couldn't match up with the Henlopen Conference Northern Division power as they fell to 2-9 in the conference and 4-9 overall. Lenona Stancell and Lacesha Hopkins led Laurel with 16 and 15 points, respectively. Laurel was buried by 10 CR three-pointers.
Laurel 59, Sussex Central 49
The Bulldogs rolled to the Henlopen Conference win behind Lacesha Hopkins.
Hopkins scored 23 points for the Bulldogs, who rose to 2-8 in the conference and 4-8 overall.
Laurel sped to a 21-10 first period lead over Sussex Central and a 40-25 lead at halftime.
Besides Hopkins, also in double figures were Lenona Stancell with 15 points and Traci McCrea with 10 points.
Sussex Tech 39, Laurel 38
The Bulldogs suffered a heart-breaking Henlopen Conference loss on a last-second shot by Sussex Tech.
Laurel rallied from a six-point halftime deficit to take a one-point lead into the final quarter but couldn't hold on.
Lacesha Hopkins drained a pair of three-pointers on the way to 13 points, while Mia Whitney contributed 11 points.
Laurel is now 2-7 in the conference and 3-8 overall.
Cape Henlopen 62, Laurel 57
The Bulldogs dropped their fourth straight contest with the Henlopen Conference loss. Laurel stayed close throughout the game but Cape Henlopen held onto its slight lead all the way. Laurel was led by Mia Whitney and Lenona Stancell, who scored 13 points apiece. Lacesha Hopkins contributed 12 points. The loss dropped Laurel to 2-6 in the conference and 3-7 overall.
Polytech 49, Laurel 32
The Bulldogs surprised the Henlopen Conference Northern Division leaders by taking a 10-8 lead after one quarter but were outscored 21-6 in the second period. In falling to 2-5 in the conference and 3-6 overall, the Bulldogs were led by Lenona Stancell's 15 points. Polytech rose to 6-0 in the conference and 7-1 overall.
Delmar 63, Laurel 49
The Bulldogs surrendered a season-high in points as they suffered their second consecutive Henlopen Conference defeat. Lacesha Hopkins sparked Laurel with a season-high 31 points. Laurel fell behind Delmar 32-22 at halftime and couldn't recover.The Bulldogs are now 2-4 in the conference and 3-5 overall.
Milford 43, Laurel 35
The Bulldogs had their two-game winning streak snapped despite four three-pointers by Lacesha Hopkins. Hopkins finished with 14 points against Milford but the Bulldogs fell to 2-3 in the Henlopen Conference and 3-4 overall.
Crisfield (Md.) Tournament
Laurel 51, Wicomico (Md.) 33
The Bulldogs captured the championship of the Crisfield Tournament with another outstanding defensive performance.
In two tournament games, Laurel surrendered only 32.5 points a game. The Bulldogs are 3-3 overall.
Lenona Stancell and Lacesha Hopkins paced the Bulldogs' offense with 18 and 17 points, respectively.
Laurel clinched the outcome by allowing Wicomico only 6 points in the fourth quarter.
Crisfield (Md.) Tournament
Laurel 45, Crisfield 32
The Bulldogs advanced to the championship game of the Crisfield Tournament with a dominating performance in the third quarter.
In rising to 2-3 overall, Laurel outscored the host team 16-2 in the third period to break open a 17-17 halftime tie.
Lacesha Hopkins paced the Bulldogs with 17 points.
Donna Hitchens added 11 points and hit two three-pointers.
Lenona Stancell contributed 9 more points.

The Bulldogs fell behind 31-18 at halftime of the Henlopen Conference Southern Division loss.
Lenona Stancell and Lacesha Hopkins led the Bulldogs with 13 points apiece, while Traci McCrea added 11 more.
The defeat dropped Laurel to 1-3 in the conference and overall entering the holiday break.
Natalie Parsons sparked Indian River with 23 points.
Seaford 51, Laurel 24
The Bulldogs fell behind 29-8 at halftime against the defending Henlopen Conference champions and couldn't recover. Lacesha Hopkins scored 10 points to lead Laurel, which fell to 1-2 in the conference and overall. Seaford remained unbeaten at 3-0. Taci McCrea contributed 7 points.

The Bulldogs rebounded from a tough season-opening loss to whip Lake Forest in a Henlopen Conference Southern Division matchup.
In rising to 1-1 in the conference and overall, the Bulldogs pulled away in the second half.
Leading 25-19 at halftime, Laurel outscored Lake 19-11 in the third period to move comfortably ahead.
Lacesha Hopkins sparked the Bulldogs with 23 points including three three-pointers.
Mia Whitney and Donna Hitchens contributed 11 points apiece.
Smyrna 39, Laurel 37

The Bulldogs suffered a tough Henlopen Conference Southern Division loss in a game they led by one point entering the fourth quarter.
Behind Donna Hitchens' monster 16-rebound performance, the Bulldogs, in coach Bruce Smart's return, took a 20-17 halftime lead and held to a 32-31 advantage going into the final period.
Laurel could score only 5 points in the fourth quarter, though, as it dropped it season-opener.
Lacesha Hopkins led all Laurel scorers with 10 points, while Lenona Stancell and Traci McCrea contributed 9 and 8 points, respectively.
For Smyrna, Cheri Bryant tossed in 10 points and Katie Powell and Katisa Evans scored 8 points apiece.
