Polytech 38, Sussex Tech 31 The Ravens concluded their regular season with a Henlopen Conference loss. Tech got four pins and a major decision in the dual meet. Ryan Chism posted a pin at 112, Pat Hughes recorded a pin at 119, Anthony Baron nailed down a pin at 152, and David Mears registered a pin at 189. Charles Nelson and Matt Davis won by decisions at 103 and 145, respectively. Milford 42, Sussex Tech 26 The Ravens dropped the Henlopen Conference dual meet to fall to 6-6 in the conference and 6-7 overall. David Mears posted the Ravens' lone pin at 189, while Anthony Baron recorded a technical fall at 152. Heavyweight A.J. Brooks nipped Milford's Brandon Baynard 5-4 in overtime, while Pat Hughes and Matt Davis registered decisions at 119 and 145, respectively. Sussex Tech 57, Dover 17 The Ravens rolled to the easy Henlopen Conference victory on the strength of three pins. Nathan Huerta at 171, David Mears at 189, and Ryan Chism at 112 all recorded their pins in the first period. Seaford 38, Sussex Tech 32 A forfeit at 103 hurt the Ravens in the Henlopen Conference dual meet. The Ravens got pins from Todd Brooke at 130, Matt Davis at 145, and David Mears at 189. Eddie Vicks and A.J. Brooks recorded major decisions in the 215 and heavyweight matches, respectively. Winning by decision were Matt Holton at 125 and Anthony Baron at 152. Sussex Central 57, Sussex Tech 21 The Ravens couldn't keep up with their unbeaten cross-town rivals in the Henlopen Conference dual meet. Tech got pins from Charles Nelson at 103, David Mears at 189 and Eddie Vicks at 215, and a decision by Pat Hughes at 119. Sussex Central posted six pins and three technical falls. Sussex Tech 49, Indian River 25 The Ravens started strong with wins in six of the Henlopen Conference dual meet's first seven matches, including three pins. Recording pins for Tech were Matt Holton at 135, B.J. Adams at 140, and Anthony Baron at 152. Brian Carlson registered a major decision at 160, while Zach Hall earned a decision at 125. St. Andrew's 34, Sussex Tech 32 The Ravens couldn't quite catch up in the nonconference dual meet's final few matches. Registering pins for Tech were David Mears at 189, Charles Nelson at 103, and Pat Hughes at 119. Brooks Anderson and Anthony Baron recorded major decisions at 125 and 152, respectively, while Joe Lynch (135) and Matt Davis (145) posted decisions. Laurel 32, Sussex Tech 29 The Ravens got pins from Pat Hughes at 119 and Matt Davis at 145 in the tough Henlopen Conference defeat. Other Tech winners included Anthony Baron by technical fall at 152. Winning by decision were Matt Holton at 130, David Mears at 189, and Eddie Vicks at 215. In the night's most exciting match, Tech's A.J. Brooks beat Laurel's Zach Slatcher, 6-4, in double overtime in the heavyweight bout. With the loss to Laurel, Tech fell to 3-4 in the conference and overall. Sussex Tech 71, Delmar 5 If the Ravens weren't winning by forfeit, they were winning by pin and technical fall in the easy Henlopen Conference triumph. Eddie Vicks started the rout with a pin in the 215-pound match and after a forfeit at heavyweight, the Ravens posted seven more pins and a technical fall. Recording pins were Charles Nelson (103), Ryan Chism (112), Brooks Anderson (125), Nick Nausbaum (135), Matt Davis (145), Anthony Baron (152), and Nick Huerta (171). David Mears won by technical fall at 189 and Joe Lynch and B.J. Adams won by decision at 130 and 140, respectively. The victory evened Tech's dual meet record at 3-3 in the conference and overall. Sussex Tech 48, Woodbridge 29 The Ravens took advantage of five forfeits and an injury default to roll to the Henlopen Conference win. In the matches that were wrestled, Matt Davis (145) and Ryan Chism (112) recorded pins for Tech and David Mears won by injury default at 189. Smyrna 52, Sussex Tech 12 The Ravens managed only three wins against the Henlopen Conference Southern Division power. Pat Hughes recorded a pin for the Ravens at 119, while Anthony Baron and Eddie Vicks posted decisions at 152 and 215, respectively. Caesar Rodney 61, Sussex Tech 3 The Ravens became the latest victim of the six-time defending Henlopen Conference champions. A.J. Brooks recorded Tech's only win with a decision in the heavyweight match. Sussex Tech 36, Cape Henlopen 31 The Ravens evened their dual meet record at 1-1 in exciting fashion when heavyweight A.J. Brooks brought them back from a 31-30 deficit with a pin of Cape's Jason DiBatista in 2:57. The topsy-turvy match saw Tech roar out to a 21-3 lead before Cape stormed back to tie at 24-24 on a pin at 160. From there, Nathan Huerta gave the Ravens a 30-24 advantage with a pin in just 24 seconds at 171, but Cape responded with a double-overtime decision on criteria by Brock Charles over David Mears at 189 and a major decision at 215 to go up 31-30 and set up the dramatic heavyweight match. Tech built its big lead on a technical fall by Charles Nelson at 103, a major decision by Pat Hughes at 119, and pins by Matt Holton and Brooks Anderson at 125 and 130, respectively. Anthony Baron recorded a decision at 152 to put Tech ahead of Cape Henlopen 24-18. "It was an outstanding team effort, highlighted by Nathan Huerta's 24-second pin at 171 over a good wrestler," said Tech head coach Scott Layfield. Lake Forest 60, Sussex Tech 15 The Ravens dropped their season-opening dual meet to the defending Henlopen Conference Southern Division champions.
