Delmar 63, Snow Hill (Md.) 54 The Wildcats captured the nonconference victory with a big finish. Delmar trailed Snow Hill by a point entering the fourth quarter but outscored the visitors 21-11 in the final period. Vince Stewart, Demeris Cannon and Chip Cuffee were all in double figures with 17, 16 and 15 points, respectively. Laurel 57, Delmar 53 The Wildcats let a big lead slip away and were tagged with their eighth straight defeat. Delmar led the Henlopen Conference Southern Division tilt 53-42 after three quarters but were outscored by Indian River by 14 points in the final period. Chip Cuffee and Scott Johnson paced the Wildcats with 17 points apiece. Demeris Cannon and Vince Stewart tossed in 11 points each. Laurel 57, Delmar 53 The Wildcats scored 42 points in the second half but they weren't enough to make up for an 11-point first half. In suffering their eighth straight loss, the Wildcats trailed Laurel 18-11 at halftime of the Henlopen Conference Southern Division matchup. Chip Cuffee led three Wildcats in double figures with 16 points. Demeris Cannon and Brad Brown added 13 and 12 points, respectively. Caesar Rodney 66, Delmar 63 The Wildcats took a one-point lead into the fourth period but eventually succumbed to the Henlopen Conference Northern Division opponent. Chip Cuffee and Demeris Cannon led the way for Delmar with 16 points each. Scott Johnson and Vince Stewart added 13 and 12 points, respectively. Johnson and Cannon each hit two three-pointers. Cape Henlopen 74, Delmar 55 The Wildcats lost their fifth straight game with the Henlopen Conference loss to Cape Henlopen. Chip Cuffee, Vince Stewart and Demeris Cannon paced the Wildcats with 10 points each. Sussex Tech 102, Delmar 44 The Wildcats scored only four points and never recovered in the loss to their Henlopen Conference Northern Division foes. Delmar trailed Sussex Tech 30-4 after the first period and 56-19 at halftime. The Wildcats were then outscored 35-7 in the third period. Vince Stewart's 13 points led Delmar. Scott Johnson contributed 10 points. Sussex Central 87, Delmar 60 The Wildcats were never in the game against the Henlopen Conference Northern Division leaders. Sussex Central bolted out to a 27-12 lead after the first period and never looked back. Delmar was led by Brad Brown's 17 points and Vince Stewart's 16 points. Dover 80, Delmar 47 The Wildcats couldn't keep up with Dover as the Senators collected their 10th win of the season. Delmar was led by Chip Cuffee's 16 points and Brad Brown's 10 points. The Wildcats stayed close in the first quarter, trailing just 15-13, but Dover outscored them 46-18 over the next two periods to win going away. Delmar is now 3-5 in the conference. Seaford 86, Delmar 60 The Wildcats lost for the third time in four games. Delmar fell behind Seaford 15-7 after the first quarter and never challenged in the Henlopen Conference contest. Demeris Cannon and Chip Cuffee both hit 20 points, with Cannon pouring in a season-high 29 points and Cuffee scoring 20. Delmar is now 3-4 in the conference. Delmar 61, Polytech 47 The Wildcats snapped a two-game losing streak with the Henlopen Conference victory. In evening their conference mark at 3-3, the Wildcats outscored Polytech 22-11 in the fourth quarter. They also bounced back from a 16-11 deficit after the first quarter to forge a 29-29 halftime tie. Delmar was sparked by four double figure scorers. Demeris Cannon led the way with 16 points, while Brad Brown and Vince Stewart added 12 points apiece and Zarar Shauket contributed 11 points. Smyrna 59, Delmar 50 The Wildcats suffered their second straight Henlopen Conference Southern Division defeat. Demeris Cannon led Delmar with 19 points, while Brad Brown added 13. Delmar, now 2-3 in the Henlopen South, trailed 25-22 at halftime and 39-32 after three quarters. Laurel 70, Delmar 60 The Wildcats dropped the Henlopen Conference Southern Division contest to unbeaten Laurel. Delmar stayed close through most of the game as it trailed 33-28 at halftime and 53-47 after three quarters. Vince Stewart scored a game-high 18 points for Delmar, which fell to 2-2 in the conference and overall. Michael Hunt and Scott Johnson added 10 points apiece. Delmar 61, Lake Forest 54 The Wildcats evened their record with the Henlopen Conference Southern Division triumph. Delmar rose to 2-2 in the conference and overall by mounting a furious comeback in a 26-point fourth quarter. Down 43-35 entering the fourth quarter, the Wildcats outscored Lake by 15 points in the final period. Four Wildcats scored in double figures, with Demeris Cannon and Vince Stewart leading the way with 13 points. Michael Hunt and Michael Johnson added 12 and 11 points, respectively. Johnson hit three of the Wildcats' four three-pointers. Milford 54, Delmar 46 The Wildcats lost an eight-point halftime lead and eventually the Henlopen Conference Southern Division game. Delmar lead Milford 32-24 at halftime and still held a two-point lead after three quarters. But Milford stormed ahead in the fourth quarter as it held the Wildcats to only 7 points. Delmar was led by Demeris Cannon's 12 points and Michael Hunt's 10 points. The Wildcats are now 1-2 in the conference and overall. Delmar 63, Woodbridge 31 The Wildcats picked up their first win of the year with an easy Henlopen Conference Southern Division triumph. Chip Cuffee and Demeris Cannon led three Wildcats in double figures with 13 and 12 points, respectively. Vince Stewart added 10 more points. Delmar started fast and never looked back. The Wildcats led Woodbridge 17-9 after the first quarter and 38-16 at halftime. Indian River 60, Delmar 52 The Wildcats, still working in a number of players from the school's Division II state championship football team, dropped their season-opener after taking a nine-point halftime lead. Delmar led the Henlopen Conference Southern Division contest 31-22 at halftime but was outscored 23-11 by Indian River in the third quarter. Leading Delmar were Demeris Cannon with 16 points and Brad Brown with 13 points. Chip Cuffee added 8 more points. Cannon connected on a pair of three-pointers. |
