Indian River 48, Delmar 18
The Wildcats got all of their points on pins and forfeits in the Henlopen Conference Southern Division defeat.
After falling behind Indian River 12-0, the Wildcats got their first points on a pin by Preston Lindsey at 160 pounds. Two matches later, John Workman recorded another pin at 189.
Laurel 70, Delmar 3
The Wildcats were no match for their rivals to the north as they managed only one win while surrendering 9 pins, a technical fall and two major decisions to Laurel. Delmar's only winner was Chris Moorefield, who claimed a decision at 145.
Mardela (Md.) 36, Delmar 34
The Wildcats lost in heart-breaking fashion when Mardela recorded a pin in the night's final match to overcome a four-point deficit.
Delmar went ahead 34-30 on a pin by Darren Collins at 189 and a decision by Jacob Skarson at 215 before losing on the pin by Mardela at heavyweight.
It was the second time Mardela had come from behind in the nonconference dual meet. Delmar had taken a 25-16 lead on a major decision by Thomas Alexander at 103, a pin by Billy Zerillo at 130, another pin by Wesley Smith at 135, a forfeit, and a decision by Chris Moorefield at 145.
Mardela then won the next three matches with a pair of major decisions and a pin for a 30-25 advantage.
Sussex Tech 54, Delmar 15
The Wildcats managed only two wins on the mat and the other by forfeit. Billy Zerillo recorded a pin at 130, while Thomas Alexander won his match by decision at 103. Delmar actually led 15-8 before Sussex Tech reeled off wins in the last 9 matches.
Sussex Central 62, Delmar 10
The Wildcats won one match on the mat and another by forfeit in the Henlopen Conference defeat. Jacob Skarson recorded Delmar's lone victory on the mat with a major decision at 215. Sussex Central won the first 11 matches before Delmar got on the board with a forfeit at 189.
Dover 40, Delmar 22
The Wildcats lost 8 of the 14 matches and surrendered five pins as they remained winless in dual meets. Daniel Hudson recorded a pin in the heavyweight match, while Zach Thompson won by a major decision at 125. Thomas Alexander, Nathan Newberry, Preston Lindsey and Jacob Skarson won by decisions at 103, 140, 160 and 215, respectively.
Seaford 53, Delmar 19
The Wildcats fell behind Seaford 31-0 before they could record a victory. Thomas Alexander, at 103, notched Delmar's first win in the dual meet with a major decision at 103. Chris Moorefield also won by major decision at 145. Delmar scored its other points with forfeits.
Polytech 55, Delmar 16
The Wildcats continued to seek their first victory. Heavyweight Dan Hudson recorded a pin for Delmar, which fell to 0-4 overall. Zach Thompson (130) and Jacob Skarson (215) both won by decision.
Smyrna 77, Delmar 4
The Wildcats managed only one victory in the loss to the defending Henlopen Conference Southern Division champions. Zach Thompson recorded a major decision at 125 pounds for Delmar, which fell to 0-3 in the conference and overall.
Lake Forest 54, Delmar 24
The Wildcats dropped their second Henlopen Conference Southern Dual meet of the season to fall to 0-2 in the conference and overall. Delmar won all weight classes from 171 on up with Matt Gorman winning by pin at 171, John Workman winning by forfeit at 189, Jacob Skarson winning by pin at 215, and Layton winning by pin at heavyweight.
Milford 65, Delmar 9
The Wildcats were no match for Milford in their Henlopen Conference Southern Division dual meet opener. Delmar's lone wins were a pin by John Workman at 189 and a decision by Zach Thompson at 125.
