Behind Paul Williamson's 22 points, including four three-pointers, the Indians overcame a slow first period to outscore Northhampton by 16 points over the final three quarters.
Now 8-8 overall, IR also got 12 points apiece from David Jurusik and Chris Mills.
Laurel 74, Indian River 65
The Indians fell behind the Henlopen Conference Southern Division leaders by double digits at halftime and couldn't catch up.
Indian River fell behind Laurel 37-19 at halftime. The Indians pulled within 53-50 after three quarters but couldn't make it all the way back.
IR was led by Ty Bell's 19 points, 14 points apiece from Paul Williamson and Larry Sturgis, and 10 points by David Jurusik.
Smyrna 65, Indian River 62
The Indians dropped the Henlopen Conference Southern Division game after entering the fourth quarter tied.
David Jurusik led IR with 19 points, while Paul Williamson added 15 points and Larry Sturgis contributed 12. Sturgis hit all three of the Indians' three-pointers.
Smyrna won the game from three-point range as it connected on 7 threes, including 6 by Daniel Henry, who led all scorers with 28 points.
Indian River 66, Delmar 63
The Indians outscored Delmar by 14 points in the fourth quarter to overcome a big deficit in the Henlopen Conference Southern Division game.
Down 53-42 after three periods, the Indians rallied for a 24-10 advantage in the fourth quarter.
David Jurusik and Larry Sturgis helped lead the comeback with 18 and 17 points, respectively. Paul Williamson added 13 points.
The Indians are now 6-8 in the conference and 7-8 overall.
Seaford 58, Indian River 56
The Indians suffered a heart-breaking Henlopen Conference defeat as a last-second shot attempt was off the mark.
The game was close throughout, with the Indians leading Seaford 29-27 at halftime before falling slightly behind in the second half.
Indian River pulled within 55-54 with 2:58 left in the game but Seaford pulled ahead 58-54 with 1:14 to go.
The Indians then closed the gap to 58-56 on a basket by Chris Mills with 50 seconds remaining.
Now 5-8 in the conference and 6-8 overall, the Indians were led by Paul Williamson's 20 points.
David Jurusik added 15 points and Mills contributed 10 more.
Indian River 69, Polytech 52
The Indians snapped a four-game losing streak against Henlopen Conference Northern Division opponents.
David Jurusik erupted for a career-high 28 points as the Indians rose to 5-7 in the conference and 6-7 overall.
Paul Williamson added 11 points for Indian River.
Cape Henlopen 72, Indian River 67 (OT)
The Indians lost a six-point lead entering the fourth quarter and subsequently the game.
The Indians led Cape Henlopen 42-36 going into the fourth quarter but were outscored by 6 points in the fourth quarter to force overtime and then 12-7 in the overtime period.
Paul Williamson and Larry Sturgis led the Indians with 15 points apiece.
Sussex Tech 60, Indian River 40
The Indians endured their third straight defeat at the hands ofa Henlopen Conference Northern Division foe.
Paul Williamson led the way for Indian River with 18 points, but it wasn't enough to hold off Sussex Tech, which gradually pulled away as the game wore on.
Now 4-6 in the conference and 5-6 overall, the Indians got 3 three-pointers from Williamson.
Sussex Central 80, Indian River 56
The Indians were no match for the Henlopen Conference Northern Division leaders as they suffered their second straight loss.
IR fell behind quickly as it trailed Sussex Central 22-15 after one quarter and 41-26 at halftime.
Paul Williamson dropped in a season-high 23 points for the Indians, who fell to 4-5 in the conference and 5-5 overall. Williamson drained all three of the Indians' three-pointers.
Caesar Rodney 70, Indian River 52
The Indians saw their three-game winning streak snapped as they suffered their second loss of the season against a Henlopen Conference Northern Division opponent.
Paul Williamson scored 18 points to lead Indian River. Larry Sturgis contributed 14 points as IR fell to 5-4 overall.
Indian River 39, Lake Forest 36
The Indians rose to 5-3 overall with the Henlopen Conference Southern Division triumph. Larry Sturgis' 12 points led IR, which is 5-2 in the Henlopen South, two games behind division leader Laurel.
Indian River 43, Milford 42
The Indians captured their second straight win in dramatic fashion when Thurman Hagans hit a three-pointer from nearly half-court as the buzzer sounded.
The victory raised IR to 4-3 overall and 4-2 in the Henlopen Conference Southern Division.
The Indians trailed Milford 24-19 at halftime but tied the game entering the fourth quarter, 34-34.
David Jurusik was the only Indian in double figures as he scored 10 points. Hagans, Paul Williamson and Chad Gibbs added 7 points apiece.
Indian River 58, Woodbridge 40
The Indians snapped a three-game losing streak with a big third quarter for a Henlopen Conference Southern Division win.
In rising to 2-3 in the conference and 2-4 overall, the Indians overcame a one-point halftime deficit by outscoring Woodbridge 17-4 in the third quarter.
Indian River held Woodbridge to just 13 points in the second half after trailing 27-26 at halftime.
The Indians were paced by guard Paul Williamson's 15 points, including three three-pointers.
David Jurusik and Larry Sturgis were also in double figures with 13 and 11 points, respectively.
Dover 57, Indian River 42
The Indians suffered their third consecutive defeat and fourth in five games to start the season.
David Jurusik and Paul Williamson paced the Indians with 15 and 12 points, respectively.
IR was actually in the game in the first half. But after forging a 19-19 halftime tie, they were outscored 20-11 in the third quarter.
At 1-3 in the Henlopen Conference and 1-4 overall, the Indians are 0-2 against former IR head coach Pat Kelly, now the head coach at Dover.
Laurel 71, Indian River 43
The Indians hung tough with the preseason favorites in the Henlopen Conference Southern Division for a quarter but quickly fell behind in the second period.
Down just 19-17 after one quarter, the Indians were outscored 23-7 by Laurel in the second quarter and never recovered.
Guard Paul Williamson scored a team-high 15 points for the Indians, who fell to 1-2 in the South and overall. Larry Sturgis added 13 points. Sturgis canned two three-pointers.
Indian River 60, Delmar 52
The Indians collected the first career coaching victory for new head coach Ron Dukes as they overcame a poor second period in the Henlopen Conference Southern Division contest.
IR started strong but scored only 4 points in the second quarter to fall behind Delmar 31-22 at halftime.
But behind five double-figure scorers, the Indians mounted a comeback in the second half that included a 23-11 advantage in the third quarter.
David Jurusik sparked Indian River with 14 points. He was joined in double figures by Paul Williamson with 12 points, Larry Sturgis with 11 points, and Thurman Hagans with 10 points.
Smyrna 66, Indian River 52
The Indians got off to a slow start in new head coach Ron Dukes' debut and dropped their season- and Henlopen Conference Southern Division opener to the visiting Eagles.
Guard Paul Williamson led Indian River with 16 points. Chad Sturgis added 12 points and Thurman Hagans, Chad Gibbs and David Jurusik chipped in with 6 points apiece.
The Indians were outscored 19-8 in the first quarter and 43-19 in the first half before outscoring Smyrna in the second half.
