Indian River 40, Laurel 29 The Indians ended their losing streak at four games as they held Laurel to single digits in the first, second and fourth quarters. Sierra Garrison scored 24 points to led IR. Delmar 40, Indian River 33 The Indians continued to struggle as they fell for the fourth straight game with the Henlopen Conference Southern Division loss. Sierra Garrison's 14 points led the Indians, who took a 31-30 lead into the fourth quarter but scored only 2 points in the final period. IR had gone ahead of Delmar 18-12 at halftime after holding the Wildcats to 2 second quarter points. Smyrna 44, Indian River 39 The Indians suffered a tough blow after making a valiant comeback attempt. Indian River trailed Smyrna 38-27 after three periods. Ashley Taylor and Sierra Garrison scored 11 points apiece, with Ravin Robinson contributing 9 points. Seaford 82, Indian River 30 The Indians couldn't match Seaford in the Henlopen Conference loss. Ravin Robinson's 14 points paced the Indians. Polytech 52, Indian River 33 The Indians fell to the Henlopen Conference Northern Division leaders after scoring only 12 points in the first half. IR trailedat halftime 34-12. Sierra Garrison led the Indians with 18 points. Ravin Robinson added 7 points. Indian River 56, Cape Henlopen 52 The Indians, behind guard Sierra Garrison's 22 points, held on to a 10-point halftime lead. In rising to 5-3 in the Henlopen Conference and 8-5 overall, IR took a 35-25 halftime lead over Cape Henlopen. That lead dwindled to one point, 52-51, in the final minute before Alexis Morris sank one free throw and Garrison canned two others to provide the cushion the Indians needed. Garrison hit 4 three-pointers to spark IR. Guard Ashley Taylor contributed 15 more points, while Ravin Robinson added 9 points. Caesar Rodney 62, Indian River 39 The Indians' three-game winning streak was snapped by the Henlopen Conference Northern Division powerhouse. In falling to 4-2 in the conference and 7-4 overall, Indian River fell behind early as it trailed 38-19 at halftime. Any thoughts of a comeback were dashed when the Indians managed only 6 points in the third period. Sierra Garrison scored a game-high 20 points for the Indians. Indian River 51, Lake Forest 27 The Indians won their third straight game overall and their third straight in the Henlopen Conference Southern Division. Now 4-1 in the conference and 7-3 overall, IR was led by Sierra Garrison's 17 points. Jessica Hudson contributed 12 ponts to the Indians' cause. Indian River 38, Milford 31 The Indians defeated Milford for the second time this season in a Henlopen Conference Southern Division game. In rising to 3-1 in the conference and 6-3 overall, IR opened up a 15-7 lead over Milford after the first quarter and never looked back. Sierra Garrison sparked IR with 13 points. Jessica Hudson and Ravin Robinson added 9 points apiece and Ashley Taylor contributed 7. Mardela (Md.) Tournament Indian River 56, Sussex Central 43 The Indians came from behind against their district rivals to capture third place in the annual Mardela (Md.) Holiday Tournament. IR trailed winless Sussex Central 28-20 at halftime but roared ahead with an 18-4 advantage in the third period. The Indians then finished the Knights off with an 18-11 edge in the final quarter. Jessica Hudson led the way for IR with a season-high 18 points. Ashley Taylor contributed 12 more points, while Holly Miskin added 8. The win raised Indian River to 5-3 overall. Indian River 64, Woodbridge 29 The Indians snapped a two-game losing streak by holding winless Woodbridge to single digits in each quarter. IR jumped out to a 33-18 halftime lead and padded it in the second half by outscoring the Raiders 31-11. Sierra Garrison exploded for a career-high 32 points and buried 3 three-pointers. Ravin Robinson contributed 10 more points and Leigh Ann Ambrose added 8. Dover 56, Indian River 33 The Indians went down to their second straight defeat due to a slow start and a slow finish. In falling to 3-2 overall and 0-1 in the conference, IR was outscored 13-4 in the first period and 14-7 in the fourth quarter. Guards Sierra Garrison and Ravin Robinson led the Indians with 12 and 10 points, respectively. Guard Ashley Taylor contributed 7 points. The victory was Dover's first of the season. Stephen Decatur (Md.) 31, Indian River 30 The Indians suffered their first loss of the season as they mounted a furious fourth quarter comeback that fell just short. Despite holding the visitors to just two points in the fourth period, the Indians were unable to overcome 29-19 deficit entering the fourth quarter. Indian River fell behind 21-15 at halftime and fell further behind when it scored only four points in the third period. The Indians then held Decatur to just 2 points while scoring 11 in the fourth quarter to nearly pull off the comeback. Sierra Garrison led IR with 12 points including both of IR's three-pointers. Holly Miskin added 8 points. The Indians are now 3-1 overall. Indian River 40, Laurel 27 The Indians overcame a sluggish first quarter with stifling second half defense to remain unbeaten at 3-0. Indian River trailed Laurel 10-6 after one quarter and 19-17 at halftime but bolted down the basket in the second half to limit the Bulldogs to just 8 points after intermission. Point guard Sierra Garrison continued to spark the Indians as she sank 3 three-pointers on the way to a game-high 16 points. Garrison has led the Indians in scoring in each game. Jessica Hudson and Ravin Robinson contributed 8 and 7 points, respectively, for IR. Indian River 53, Delmar 45 The Indians remained unbeaten with their second straight win to open the season. Leading Delmar 21-20 at halftime, the Indians turned on their defense and held Delmar to just 5 points in the third quarter. Sierra Garrison led the Indians in scoring for the second straight game with a game-high 20 points. Guard Ravin Robinson added 10 more points. Garrison canned a trio of three-pointers. The Indians host Laurel in a Henlopen South contest on Thursday, Dec. 12, at 7:30 p.m. Indian River 46, Milford 26 Guard Sierra Garrison helped get the Indians off to a good start with 19 points in a season-opening nonconference battle. Garrison hit 6 of 7 foul shots to lead the Indians and drained a three-pointer. Guard Ravin Robinson added 10 more points to help stake IR to a 28-11 lead over Milford at halftime. Guard Ashley Taylor contributed 8 more points. |
